Cryo‐EM for Small Molecules [PDF]
AbstractIn recent years, protein structure analysis using cryo‐electron microscopy(cryo‐EM) has expanded and improved. In this review, we discuss many recent improvements to the field, the problems those improvements hope to solve, and some of the still unanswered questions.

Bayesian cryo-EM Refinement [PDF]
In light of recent high-resolution cryo-electron-microscopy (cryo-EM) structures of large complexes, modeling atom coordinates into cryo-EM densities faces new challenges. Though high-resolution structures provide more data, finding the best-fitting structure with current refinement methods is more difficult with increased resolution, because the used ...

The 2022 meeting of the American Crystallographic Association in Portland was an inspiring event, addressing a range of both conventional and emerging themes in structural biology. The increasing emphasis at the conference on methods outside the conventional envelope of crystallography, especially cryo-electron microscopy, is discussed.

Abstract Structures of seven CASP14 targets were determined using cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) technique with resolution between 2.1 and 3.8 Å. We provide an evaluation of the submitted models versus the experimental data (cryo‐EM density maps) and experimental reference structures built into the maps.

Cryo-EM in drug discovery [PDF]
Abstract The impact of structural biology on drug discovery is well documented, and the workhorse technique for the past 30 years or so has been X-ray crystallography. With the advent of several technological improvements, including direct electron detectors, automation, better microscope vacuums and lenses, phase plates and ...

Interpreting the cryo-EM map [PDF]
Beckers et al. [IUCrJ (2019), 6, 18-33] propose a general approach to visualization of cryo-EM maps. Their method overcomes some of the challenges inherent in the conventional approach for depicting maps using a single isosurface threshold.
