SmbZIP5 Integrates Abscisic and Jasmonic Acid Signalling to Positively Regulate Tanshinone Biosynthesis in Salvia miltiorrhiza

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 12, Page 5817-5832, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Salvia miltiorrhiza produces pharmacologically bioactive diterpenoid tanshinones which are regulated by jasmonate (JA) and abscisic acid (ABA) signalling, while their crosstalk in this process remains unclear. Here, we demonstrated that MeJA and ABA acted synergistically to enhance tanshinone biosynthesis.

Cryptotanshinone inhibits breast cancer cell growth by suppressing estrogen receptor signaling [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Biology & Therapy, 2014
Estrogen receptor (ER) is a major therapeutic target for the treatment of breast cancer, because of the crucial role of estrogen signaling deregulation in the development and progression of breast cancer. In this study, we report the identification of a novel ERα binding compound, cryptotanshinone (CPT), by screening the CADD database.
