Kappa casein gen (CSN3) in horse: genetic variability in exon 1 and 4

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2006
Kappa casein (κ-CN) is milk protein that determines the size and specific function of the casein micelles, and its clevage by chymosine is responsible for milk coagulation.

CSN1S1 and CSN3 genetic variants affect milk quality traits in the buffalo population in Serbia [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Technology
The Mediterranean water buffalo breed is the most common in Europe. Caseins are major milk proteins whose gene variants can affect milk yield, composition, and processing characteristics.

Genetic characterization of Egyptian buffalo CSN3 gene

open access: yesJournal of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, 2013
AbstractGenetic polymorphism k-casein (CSN3) gene was investigated in lactating Egyptian buffalo using nucleotide sequencing. Primer pairs amplified a 453 nucleotide fragment of CSN3 exon IV with an open reading frame of 421 nucleotides encoding 139 amino acids of the mature peptide and 32 nucleotides 3′UTR.

Extensive intragenic recombination and patterns of linkage disequilibrium at the CSN3 locus in European rabbit [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics Selection Evolution, 2007
Kappa-casein (CSN3) plays an important role in stabilising the Ca-sensitive caseins in the micelle. The European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) CSN3 has previously been shown to possess two alleles (A and B), which differ deeply in their intronic regions

Cell-specific and shared regulatory elements control a multigene locus active in mammary and salivary glands [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Regulation of high-density loci harboring genes with different cell-specificities remains a puzzle. Here we investigate a locus that evolved through gene duplication and contains eight genes and 20 candidate regulatory elements, including one super ...

CSN3 interacts with IKKγ and inhibits TNF- but not IL-1-induced NF-κB activation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2001
The transcription factor nuclear factor κB (NF‐κB) plays a pivotal role in immune and inflammatory responses. Activation of NF‐κB requires the activity of IKK, a kinase complex that contains two catalytic subunits, IKKα and IKKβ, and a regulatory subunit IKKγ. To understand how IKK activity is regulated, we searched for IKKγ‐interacting proteins by the

Hexokinase 1 and 2 mediates glucose utilization to regulate the synthesis of kappa casein via ribosome protein subunit 6 kinase 1 in bovine mammary epithelial cells [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Nutrition
Glucose plays a vital part in milk protein synthesis through the mTOR signaling pathway in bovine mammary epithelial cells (BMEC). The objectives of this study were to determine how glucose affects hexokinase (HK) activity in BMEC and investigate the ...

THE INFLUENCE OF MARKERS CSN3 AND ETH10 ON MILK PRODUCTION PARAMETERS IN CZECH PIED CATTLE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture, 2005
There were observed milk production parameters in 5506 daughters of 37 Czech Pied cattle sires in our study. Sires were genotyped for markers CSN3 and ETH10.

Milk productivity of black-and-white and Kholmogory cows with different genotypes of kappa-casein [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences, 2021
The influence of genotypes for kappa-casein gene on the main indicators of milk productivity in the 1st and 3rd lactation in black-and-white and Kholmogory cows was studied.
