Airborne Plant eDNA Reflects Local Biodiversity: A Multi‐Method Assessment in a Botanical Garden

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 4, July‐August 2026.
Botanical garden sampling site, three air‐sampling approaches, and three sequencing pipelines (amplicon, short‐, and long‐read shotgun). Results demonstrate strong agreement with known plant sources, high complementarity among methods, and substantial contributions of sub‐pollen particles to airborne plant eDNA.

Chemotaxonomical research in higher plants (XVI) carotenoid pigments in the fruits of some local varieties of Cucurbita

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca, 1984
The pigments of seven local Cucurbita varieties were determined. In the fruits only carotenoids with alfa- and beta-iononic structure were identified: hydrocarbon carotenoids (alfa- and beta-carotene), xanthophylls (cryptoxanthin, aloxanthin ...

Folate‐Containing Fermented Foods of Plant and Animal Origin: The Value of Traditional Foods to Tackle Folate Deficiency

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Traditional fermented foods consumed around the world are natural sources of folate. Certain microbes, particularly Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, enhance folate production during the fermentation process, making fermented foods a promising dietary approach to improve folate status and help prevent folate deficiency.

Multidisciplinary studies in Cucurbita maxima (squash) domestication

open access: yesVegetation History and Archaeobotany, 2017
Plant domestication is a complex process in which natural and cultural factors play important roles delimiting evolutionary pathways of plants under cultivation. In order to deal with and understand the changes generated during this process, multi-disciplinary research is required, especially when a full picture of the domestication history of a taxon ...

RNA interference in crop protection: opportunities and challenges during the transition to commercialization

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 7, Page 5971-5986, July 2026.
RNA interference (RNAi) technologies, host‐induced gene silencing (HIGS) and spray‐induced gene silencing (SIGS), potentially offer sustainable crop protection. However, efficacy, costs, regulatory clarity, and socio‐environmental impacts require further evaluation for broader use.
