Cucurbitacin B Protects Against Pressure Overload Induced Cardiac Hypertrophy
Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 2017ABSTRACTLack of effective anti‐cardiac hypertrophy drugs creates a major cause for the increasing prevalence of heart failure. In the present study, we determined the anti‐hypertrophy and anti‐fibrosis potential of a natural plant triterpenoid, Cucurbitacin B both in vitro and in vivo.

Inhibitory effects of cucurbitacin B on laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 2008Cucurbitacins are compounds isolated from various plant families, which have been used as folk medicines for centuries in countries such as India and China because of their wide spectrum of pharmacological activities such as cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer effects. Accumulated evidences have shown that cucurbitacin B inhibits the growth of

Cucurbitacin B Induces Hypermethylation of Oncogenes in Breast Cancer Cells
Planta Medica, 2018AbstractBreast cancer is a complex disease driven by multiple factors including both genetic and epigenetic alterations. Recent studies revealed that abnormal gene expression induced by epigenetic changes including aberrant promoter methylation plays a critical role in human breast carcinogenesis.

Inhibitory effect of cucurbitacin B on imiquimod-induced skin inflammation
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2015Psoriasis is a common skin disease, of which pathogenesis involves the increase of inflammatory reaction in epidermal cells. In an attempt to find therapeutics for psoriasis, we found that cucurbitacin B has an inhibitory potential on imiquimod-induced inflammation of keratinocytes. Cucurbitacin B significantly inhibited imiquimod-induced expression of

Studies toward the Total Syntheses of Cucurbitacins B and D
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2010Synthetic efforts toward the convergent construction of the tetracyclic triterpenoids cucurbitacins B and D are described. The results of a Diels-Alder study examining the effects of steric and electronic variations of 2-methyl-2-cyclohexenone on the endo/exo-diastereoselectivity of the reaction are presented.
