Population Genetic Differences Between Two Cucurbit Leaf Beetles With Contrasting Feeding Preferences

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
The study revealed that the polyphagous A. indica exhibits higher genetic diversity, lower differentiation, and higher gene flow than the oligophagous A. lewisii, with these differences attributed to their distinct dietary preferences. A. lewisii populations showed significant isolation‐by‐distance, whereas A.

Depletion of ATP-citrate lyase (ATPCL) affects chromosome integrity without altering histone acetylation in Drosophila mitotic cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The Citrate Lyase (ACL) is the main cytosolic enzyme that converts the citrate exported from mitochondria by the SLC25A1 carrier in Acetyl Coenzyme A (acetyl-CoA) and oxaloacetate.

Identification of Blood Pressure‐Associated Metabolites by Integrating Metabolomic and Genetic Analysis

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study identified 10 potential causality between metabolites and blood pressure and found potential genetic regulators of two metabolites. Multiomics integration revealed that a genetic variant near the omega‐3 metabolism genes (FADS1/FADS2) may influence blood pressure regulation by modulating prostaglandin E3 levels.

The incidence, correlation with tumor-infiltrating inflammation, and prognosis of phosphorylated STAT3 expression in human gliomas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Purpose: The signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is frequently overexpressed in most cancers, propagates tumorigenesis, and is a key regulator of immune suppression in cancer patients.

Glucosinolate hydrolysis products suppress entomopathogenic nematodes in vitro but do not protect sequestering flea beetle larvae in vivo

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 4, Page 3603-3612, April 2026.
The flea beetle's glucosinolate‐based chemical defense fails to protect larvae from nematode infection. However, the defense inhibits the nematode's symbiotic bacteria, thereby potentially impairing nematode reproduction and biocontrol success. Abstract BACKGROUND The efficacy of entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) in the biological control of insect ...

Convergence and parallelism in the evolution of plant metabolism

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 4, Page 1013-1031, April 2026.
Similar traits in different organisms may originate from shared ancestry or evolve independently. The terminology used to define phenotypic similarity is often confusing. This review attempts to clarify the definitions and present examples from plant domestication and specialized metabolism to explain how complex traits evolve repeatedly in plants ...

Phytochemical Analysis of Veratrum Alkaloids in Medicinal Veratrum Globules Using High‐Performance Liquid Chromatography Coupled With Tandem Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesBiomedical Chromatography, Volume 40, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Veratrum L. species have been used in traditional medicine for centuries due to their bioactive properties, yet they also contain toxic steroid alkaloids that pose potential health risks when present in herbal preparations. Reliable analytical approaches are therefore essential to ensure product safety, protect consumer health and assess ...
