Mathematical analysis of a Markovian multi-server feedback queue with variant of multiple vacations, balking, and reneging

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Models and Applied Computational Science, 2022
In this paper, we analyze a multi-server queue with customers' impatience and Bernoulli feedback under variant of multiple vacations. On arrival, a customer decides whether to join or balk the system, based on the observation of the system size as well ...

TDP‐43 Aggregation: The Healthy‐Toxic Balance of the Prion‐Like Domain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TDP‐43 function relies on a delicate balance between reversible phase‐separated states and irreversible aggregation. Under physiological conditions, TDP‐43 forms dynamic droplets and oligomers that support normal cellular functions. In pathological contexts, this balance shifts toward aberrant aggregation, leading to toxic species.

Safety of Sodium‐Ion Batteries: Evaluation and Perspective from Component Materials to Cells, Modules, and Packs

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides a bottom‐up evaluation of sodium‐ion battery safety, linking material degradation mechanisms, cell engineering parameters, and module/pack assembly. It emphasizes that understanding intrinsic material stability and establishing coordinated engineering control across hierarchical levels are vital for preventing degradation coupling ...

Who Are the Consumers of European Farmers' Markets? A Cross‐Country Analysis

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With substantial growth in the number of farmers' markets (FMs) in developed countries, the number of consumers visiting FMs is also increasing. This study comparatively assesses the consumers of FMs in three European countries where FMs traditionally play a distinctive role in food supply chains.

Nearly periodic behavior in the overloaded G/D/s+GI queue

open access: yesStochastic Systems, 2011
Under general conditions, the number of customers in a GI/D/s+GI many-server queue at time t converges to a unique stationary distribution as t → ∞. However, simulations show that the sample paths routinely exhibit nearly periodic behavior over long time

Regional Differences in U.S. Consumer Preferences for Native Woody Shrubs With Varying Aesthetic Characteristics

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Native plants offer a variety of aesthetic (e.g., fall colour, fruit, flowers) and functional benefits (e.g., pollinator friendly, wildlife friendly, water management). How these benefits influence consumer choice and perceived value of native versus introduced plants is not well understood.

Queuing Time Decision Model with the Consideration on Call Center Customer Abandonment Behavior

open access: yesJournal of Networks, 2014
To improve customer satisfaction through prompting waiting time is a key way for a call center. The practice shows that the length of prompted waiting time has an important effect on customer satisfaction and the utility of the call center. Based on queuing theory we develop a maximum system utility optimization model with consideration of customer ...
