Effect of high-voltage electrostatic field on post-harvest quality of cut roses

open access: yesJournal of Plant Interactions
Traditional fresh-cut flower preservation technology mainly uses a combination of chemical agents and low-temperature refrigeration, resulting in high energy consumption and environmental pollution. The research was based on the exploration of the effect

Green manure affects cut flower yield and quality of ‘Vegas’ rose bushes

open access: yesOrnamental Horticulture, 2017
Rose cultivation requires many inputs for satisfactory production, making the process expensive. Nowadays, alternative practices have been used for sustainable crop production.

Multiplication of Patio roses by cutting

open access: yesHORTUS BOTANICUS, 2013
The experiment involved plants of 10 Patio rose cultivars of the National Dendrological Park "Sofiyivka" collection. The methods of propagation by cuttings worked out by Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy were assumed as a basis. Callogenesis and regenerative capacity were estimated in accordance with Z.J. Ivanova scale (1982).

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Evidence for Cosmic Acceleration is Robust to Observed Correlations Between Type Ia Supernova Luminosity and Stellar Age

open access: yes, 2020
Type Ia Supernovae (SNe Ia) are powerful standardizable candles for constraining cosmological models and provided the first evidence of the accelerated expansion of the universe.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Extending vase life of cut rose (Rosa hybrida L.) cv. Bacara by essential oils

open access: yesAdvances in Horticultural Science, 2018
Recent studies showed that some essential oils functions as antibacterial compounds. In this study results showed treatment with essential oils promoted vase life of cut roses via decreasing bacteria number inside the stem.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Metabolism of Sucrose in Cut Roses. II. Movement and Inversion of Sucrose Absorbed by Cut Rose Stems1

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science, 1977
Abstract 14 C-sucrose, when taken up into the xylem, moved rapidly into leaves and flower heads of cut roses ( Rosa hybrida L.) Outward lateral movement of 14 C occurred rapidly along the entire length of stem at a ...
