Factors Affecting Plunge Grinding Force [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Grinding force has a close relation to grinding inputs such as grinding wheel, work material, interference condition, grinding speed, grinding fluid and machine condition, and therefore varies widely with grinding inputs.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

An investigation on the cutting force of milling Inconel 718

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Inconel alloy has been widely used in industry but is difficult to machine due to its rapid change in cutting force during machining. This paper investigated the cutting force for milling Inconel 718 as conventional force model is unable to handle the ...

A Model for Predicting Dynamic Cutting Forces in Sand Mould Milling with Orthogonal Cutting

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2018
Cutting force is one of the research hotspots in direct sand mould milling because the cutting force directly affects the machining quality and tool wear. Unlike metals, sand mould is a heterogeneous discrete deposition material. There is still a lack of

Experimental study of coated carbide tools behaviour: application for Ti-5-5-5-3 turning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The goal of this paper is to study the relation between the input data (conditions and geometry of cut) and answers (wear of tool, forces and cutting temperatures) when machining the Ti-5-5-5-3 alloy treated. This study has shown that the cutting process

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Full-scale test of disc cutter rotary cutting in TBM tunnelling: a case study of Mawan granite in Shenzhen, China

open access: yesGeomechanics and Geophysics for Geo-Energy and Geo-Resources
Understanding the distribution of cutting force provides a foundation for the design and optimization of cutterhead layout. The simulation of rotary cutting with a large cutting radius remains a challenge for laboratory tests.

Research into mechanical modeling based on characteristics of the fracture mechanics of ice cutting for scientific drilling in polar regions [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere
Scientific drilling in polar regions plays a crucial role in obtaining ice cores and using them to understand climate change and to study the dynamics of polar ice sheets and their impact on global environmental changes (sea level, ocean current cycle ...
