Selected Malaysian Wood CO2-Laser Cutting Parameters And Cut Quality

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Applied Sciences, 2008
Laser has been used to cut most non-metallic materials very efficiently and successfully because these materials are highly absorptive by the CO2 laser wavelength of 10.6 10.6µm. Laser cutting process has been found to be reliable in loads of applications, with several advantages over other mechanical means in producing successful cut of even thermally

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Laser Cutting of Stainless Steel Thin Sheets with Pulsed Nd:Yag Laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The parameters of laser cutting mainly depend on material and from thickness. In case of a given material and thickness many settings can be chosen. In this article we examine the laser cutting of 0,4 mm thickness stainless steel sheets with pulsed Nd ...

Chaotic vibrations in a regenerative cutting process

open access: yes, 2001
We have analyzed vibrations generated in an orthogonal cutting process. Using a simple one degree of freedom model of the regenerative cutting we have observed the complex behaviour of the system.

Multi-scale simulation of the nano-metric cutting process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and the finite element (FE) method are two popular numerical techniques for the simulation of machining processes. The two methods have their own strengths and limitations.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Modelling and analyses of helical milling process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A comparison between the geometry of the helical milling specialized tool and conventional end mill was firstly introduced. Furthermore, a mathematical model, in which the cutting area was divided into different cutting zones, was established to simulate

DETERMINATION OF CUTTING TILLAGE DISK PARAMETER

open access: yesAgricultural machinery and technologies, 2017
Disk working elements are classified by continuity of the blade, forms of the disk and cutout and type of the cutout. Decrease in power consumption while introducing a segment of a spherical cut disk is possible at transformation of the external cutting edge towards a concave surface of the working element that corresponds to a difficult type of ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).
