Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Cutting Performance and Wear/Damage Characteristics of PCBN Tool in Hard Milling

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
In the intermittent machining of hardened steel for the die and mold industry, determining how to reduce the wear of PCBN (Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride) tools and improve their machining efficiency and quality is an important subject.

Performance of laser assisted micro-milling (laμmill) of titanium alloy using micro ball end mill [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Laser assisted milling technique turns to be complicated and unpredictable when the machining size is scaled to micro level. Furthermore, less has been reported on the application of ball end mill in laser assisted micro milling.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Experimental Research on the Effect of Thermophysical Characteristics of Cutting Fluid on Cutting Performance During Turning Ti-6Al-4V Alloy

open access: yesLubricants
Cutting fluid has been widely used to enhance the heat dissipation of cutting systems. However, whether cutting fluid can fully play its role is closely correlated with its thermophysical characteristics, such as viscosity, surface tension, etc.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Effects of TiC Addition on Mechanical Behavior and Cutting Performance of Powder Extrusion Printed Cemented Carbides

open access: yesMetals
This study addresses the limited research on the mechanical behavior and cutting performance of additive manufactured cemented carbides with high TiC content, which has impeded the rapid development of additive manufacturing in carbide cutting tools ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
