Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Partial Differential Equations for 3D Data Compression and Reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper describes a PDE-based method for 3D reconstruction of surface patches. The PDE method is exploited using data obtained from standard 3D scanners.

Multiple Cuts with a Homogeneous Analytic Center Cutting Plane Method

open access: yesComputational Optimization and Applications, 2003
This paper analyzes the introduction of multiple central cuts in a conic formulation of the analytic center cutting plane method (in short ACCPM). This work extends earlier work on the homogeneous ACCPM, and parallels the analysis of the multiple cuts process in the standard ACCPM.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

The generalized minimum spanning tree problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We consider the Generalized Minimum Spanning Tree Problem denoted by GMSTP. It is known that GMSTP is NP-hard and even finding a near optimal solution is NP-hard.

Two-player envy-free multi-cake division

open access: yes, 2009
We introduce a generalized cake-cutting problem in which we seek to divide multiple cakes so that two players may get their most-preferred piece selections: a choice of one piece from each cake, allowing for the possibility of linked preferences over the

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

An Interior Point Method for Solving Semidefinite Programs Using Cutting Planes and Weighted Analytic Centers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
We investigate solving semidefinite programs (SDPs) with an interior point method called SDP-CUT, which utilizes weighted analytic centers and cutting plane constraints. SDP-CUT iteratively refines the feasible region to achieve the optimal solution. The

Some lower bounds on sparse outer approximations of polytopes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Motivated by the need to better understand the properties of sparse cutting-planes used in mixed integer programming solvers, the paper [2] studied the idealized problem of how well a polytope is approximated by the use of sparse valid inequalities.

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.
