Interferon beta drives therapy resistance in a patient‐derived model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Interferon type 1 (IFN‐1) production and signaling is associated with the acquisition of therapy resistance, following chronic DNA damage, via Interferon‐related DNA damage resistance signature (IRDS) gene expression. An alternative, DNA damage‐independent role of sustained IFN‐1 mediated resistance was identified and characterized by the emergence of ...

Thermocouple and Infrared Sensor-Based Measurement of Temperature Distribution in Metal Cutting

open access: yesSensors, 2015
In metal cutting, the magnitude of the temperature at the tool-chip interface is a function of the cutting parameters. This temperature directly affects production; therefore, increased research on the role of cutting temperatures can lead to improved ...

Somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) is a tumor suppressor in cutaneous and head & neck squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Cutting of GFRP at elevated temperature.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering, 1988
In order to reduce the tool wear in cutting GFRP, turning of both pipe and disk of GFRP and drilling of a GFRP plate were carried out under the condition of elevated temperature below 423 K. The pipe was the unidirectional glass fiber reinforced polyester resin, and the disk as well as the plate was the glass cloth reinforced epoxy resin.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

TEMPERATURE EVALUATION UNDER CURVED-EDGE TOOL CUTTING

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2014
A theoretical model for determining temperature on the working surfaces of the tool with the blade shaped profile is considered. Analytical dependences for estimating the thermal state of the blade front face (tooth cutter) with an elliptical profile in ...
