Toward a better understanding of tool wear effect through a comparison between experiments and SPH numerical modelling of machining hard materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The aim of this study is to improve the general understanding of tungsten carbide (WC–Co) tool wear under dry machining of the hard-to-cut titanium alloy Ti6Al4V. The chosen approach includes experimental and numerical tests.

DESIGNING AND DEVELOPING A PROGRAM IN SINUMERIK vs. 1.3 FOR A SHAFT WITH SEALING GROOVES [PDF]

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate, 2015
CNC is an abbreviation for „Computer Numerically Controlled". Numerically controlled tool machines are also called CNC machines. The numeric control results in a process of continuous „feeding” of an especially built programable controller, with a set ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Study on Machining Process of Multi-step Holes by Using The Standard Cutting Tool and Stepped Drill

open access: yesJournal of Applied Engineering and Technological Science
Besides technological solutions, machining productivity is a factor that it is always considered by manufacturers. The cutting tool (CT) is one of the key points to boost the cutting efficiency and improve machining productivity of the machining process.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Identifying the cause of cutting tool failure by using simulation software

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The article is focused on the construction problems of cutting tools designed for manufacturing components in high numbers. Analysis of the tool with low lifetime is provided with the use of simulation software to detect the causes of the tool failure ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

An investigation on the mechanics of nanometric cutting and the development of its test-bed

open access: yes, 2003
The mechanics of machining at a very small depth of cut (100 nm or less) is not well understood. The chip formation physics, cutting forces generation, resulting temperatures and the size effects significantly affect the efficiency of the process and ...
