Resource Saving and Environmental Benefits From Cooking With Natural Fiber Handcrafted Boxes

open access: yesJournal of Food Process Engineering, Volume 49, Issue 5, May 2026.
Cooking meals in handcrafted boxes is commonly perceived as a more sustainable option than using hobs. This paper conducts a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) that substantiates this assumption, quantitatively demonstrating that meal preparation without the box can lead to significantly higher overall environmental impacts.

Intensity matching in cuttlefish [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Abstract For efficient background matching it is essential that animals closely match a set of salient visual statistics of their visual surroundings. The mean intensity of a background is a key statistic, because it can be estimated across a large range of viewing distances by a simple computation.

Review: Insight on Porous Carbon Positive Electrode for Sodium‐Ion Capacitors: Interplay Between Synthesis, Properties, and Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 24, 27 April 2026.
Sodium ion capacitor (SIC) is currently constrained by the low discharge capacity of commercial activated carbon as positive electrode material. This review provides a holistic summary of research efforts on alternative porous carbon materials for SIC. Image created by the authors with www.biorender.com.

Evolution of limb development in cephalopod mollusks

open access: yeseLife, 2019
Cephalopod mollusks evolved numerous anatomical novelties, including arms and tentacles, but little is known about the developmental mechanisms underlying cephalopod limb evolution.

Food effects on statolith composition of the common cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The concentration of trace elements within cephalopod statoliths can provide a record of the environmental characteristics at the time of calcification.

Mating Patterns and Postzygotic Barriers in a Hybrid Swarm of Two Closely Related Pigeon Species

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Based on the observed mating structure and reproductive outcomes, hybrid index values of the resulting offspring shifted toward the feral pigeon end. This pattern indicates ongoing introgression of feral‐derived alleles into the hybrid population. ABSTRACT Hybrid zones provide a valuable framework for understanding evolutionary pathways.

The potential use of derivatives to manage the price risk of seafood markets: the case of sole and cuttlefish in France [PDF]

open access: yes
Taking into consideration the changes in the rules for the price support for agricultural and sea products, it seems appropriate to find out what other means could be used to cover the price risk in order to protect the commercial margin of these sectors

A proteomic analysis of the statocyst endolymph in common cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis): an assessment of acoustic trauma after exposure to sound [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Here, the proteomic analysis of the endolymph was performed before and after sound exposure to assess the efects of exposure to low intensity, low frequency sounds on the statocyst endolymph of the Mediterranean common cuttlefsh (Sepia ofcinalis ...
