Rapid Antemortem Detection of CWD Prions in Deer Saliva
Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is an efficiently transmitted prion disease of cervids, now identified in 22 United States, 2 Canadian provinces and Korea. One hallmark of CWD is the shedding of infectious prions in saliva, as demonstrated by bioassay in deer.

A South African Investigation Into Etiological and Background Factors in Developmental Dyslexia
ABSTRACT Understanding the etiological and background factors associated with developmental dyslexia (DD) is crucial for effective early identification, perceptive support, informed therapist management, and differentiated teacher instruction. A retrospective, cross‐sectional, and comparative research design was employed to investigate these factors in

Antler cannibalism in reindeer
Prion diseases constitute a class of invariably fatal and degenerative encephalopathies. Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a contagious prion disease among cervids, which is spreading and causing marked population declines in USA and Canada.

Megaherbivores such as African savannah elephants are ecosystem engineers that modify vegetation structure, yet the cascading effects of these changes on smaller fauna remain poorly understood. We examined how elephant rewilding affected coarse woody debris (CWD) density and the behavior of the Natal multimammate mouse in lowveld savannah, South Africa,

ABSTRACT We validated a wearable accelerometer and running watch for estimating peak vertical ground reaction force (vGRF) and cumulative weighted damage (CWD). First, 18 well‐trained runners of equal sex distribution (3.3 ± 0.3 m/s habitual training pace) ran a range of speeds (2.7–4.0 m/s, plus training pace) on an instrumented treadmill as reference

The occurrence of CWD prions and their risk to humans
Zoonotic diseases are often caused by viruses or bacteria, which adapt to new species with changes to their nucleic acid sequence. The etiologic agent of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), the prion, is a self-templating, abnormal isomer of a normal protein, PrPC, and does not include nucleic acids.

Erosion across the landscape is described at first order by a limited number (nine) of homogenous geomorphological and lithological domains. Using a dense set of basin wide denudation rates, it is possible to retrieve the contribution of each litho‐morpho‐domains as a function of their respective surface.

Historical observations and bias‐corrected CMIP6 projections reveal intensifying warm extremes, declining cold events and increasingly irregular precipitation patterns across Morocco. Future warming, particularly under SSP5‐8.5, produces an almost linear amplification of heat, aridity and hydrological stress, leading to longer droughts and more intense

Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is a fatal prion disease which infects deer, elk and moose. CWD was first described as a wasting syndrome in captive deer in Colorado and Wyoming wildlife facilities from 1967 to 1979.
