GSK-3α Is a Novel Target of CREB and CREB-GSK-3α Signaling Participates in Cell Viability in Lung Cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Overexpression or activation of cyclic AMP-response element-binding protein (CREB) has been known to be involved in several human malignancies, including lung cancer.

Host‐Directed Biomaterials for Combatting Bloodstream Infections: From Macrocyclic Peptides to Immune‐Activating Cell Backpacks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bloodstream infections (BSI) are one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in both civilian and military populations. This paper summarizes recent progress in novel treatment strategies to manage BSI arising from both bacterial and fungal pathogens using molecules, particles, and materials to elicit host‐directed immunity.

Chemotherapy Controls Metastasis Through Stimulatory Effects on GRP78 and Its Transcription Factor CREB3L1

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2020
To achieve a cure for metastatic breast cancer, further understanding of molecular drivers of the metastatic cascade is essential. Currently, chemotherapy regimens include doxorubicin and paclitaxel which act in part by inducing the unfolded protein ...

Combination of panax ginseng and ginkgo biloba extracts attenuate cerebral ischemia injury with modulation of NLRP3 inflammasome and CAMK4/CREB pathway

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Stroke is a major cause of death and disability throughout the world. A combination of Panax Ginseng and Ginkgo biloba extracts (CGGE) is an effective treatment for nervous system diseases, but the neuroprotective mechanism underlying CGGE remains ...

Expanding Chemical Space of Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles for Tunable Antiviral‐Like Immunomodulatory Responses and Potent Adjuvant Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles

Decreased CREB levels suppress epilepsy

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2012
Epilepsy is a common neurologic disorder yet no treatments aimed at preventing epilepsy have been developed. Several molecules including genes containing cAMP response elements (CREs) in their promoters have been identified that contribute to the ...

The CREB-miR-9 negative feedback minicircuitry coordinates the migration and proliferation of glioma cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Migration-proliferation dichotomy is a common mechanism in gliomagenesis; however, an understanding of the exact molecular mechanism of this "go or grow" phenomenon remains largely incomplete.

Bimetallic Nanoreactor Activates cGAS‐STING Pathway via mtDNA Release for Cancer Metalloimmunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Mn–Ca nanoreactor (MCC) is developed as a non‐nucleotide STING nanoagonist for cancer metalloimmunotherapy. MCC induces Ca2+ overload and hydroxyl radical generation, resulting in mitochondrial damage and mtDNA release. The released mtDNA cooperates with Mn2+ to robustly activate cGAS–STING signaling.

Recurrent airway obstruction in horses - an allergic inflammation: a review

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2011
Recurrent airway obstruction (RAO), also known as heaves, is a debilitating and incurable disease of the equine airway. Affected horses develop bronchoconstriction and neutrophilic airway inflammation as a result of exposure to specific airborne ...

A Single‐Metal‐Doped Nanoplatform for Ferroptosis‐Driven cGAS‐STING Pathway Activation in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The cGAS‐STING pathway boosts HCC antitumor immunity but lacks specific activation. Nanoplatform ZMRPF induces HCC ferroptosis via lipid ROS, releasing mtDNA. It synergizes with ZMRPF‐released Mn2⁺ to activate cGAS‐STING, amplifies antigen‐presenting cell activity, reverses HCC immunosuppression, and enables robust systemic antitumor immunity ...
