Atrial Natriuretic Peptides and Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate Metabolism
The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 1995Atrial natriuretic factor (ANF), consisting of amino acids 99-126 of the 126 amino acid ANF prohormone, increases cyclic guanosine monophosphate (GMP) (thought to be the mediator of its physiologic effects) in plasma and urine of human subjects. Long-acting natriuretic peptide, vessel dilator, and kaliuretic peptide, consisting of amino acid 1-30, 31 ...

Molecular Conformation of Guanosine 3,′5′-Cyclic Monophosphate
Nature New Biology, 1973THE molecular structure of 5′-methylene adenosine 3′,5′-cyclic monophosphonate (cyclic AMP analogue), a synthetic cyclic nucleotide, has been reported1,2. Here we report the molecular structure of the naturally occurring cyclic nucleotide guanosine 3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate (cyclic GMP).

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1987
The discovery and structure-activity of a new class of renal artery phosphodiesterase inhibitors is reported, some of which are highly selective for the guanosine cyclic 3',5'-monophosphate phosphodiesterase. One of these compounds, 5,6-dihydro-8,9,11,12-tetramethoxy-1,3-dioxo-1H-benz[f]- isoquino [8,1,2- hij]quinazoline-2(3H)-carboxylic acid, ethyl ...

Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate in Primary Cultures of Glial Cells
Journal of Neurochemistry, 1980Abstract: Cyclic GMP was found in primary cultures of glial cells obtained by dissociation of newborn mouse brain hemispheres. Its basal level (0.52 pmoles/mg cell protein) was as high as that found in adult mouse brain cortex but 10 times lower than in cerebellum.

Cellular signaling with nitric oxide and cyclic guanosine monophosphate
Seminars in Perinatology, 2000The understanding of the formation and biological actions of nitric oxide (NO) has grown extensively during the past two decades. With the discoveries of the biological effects of NO and nitrovasodilators on cyclic guanosine monophosphate, with the elucidation of the biochemical mechanisms of NO synthesis, and with the growing knowledge of regulation ...

Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate Mediates Penile Erection in the Rat
European Urology, 1993Recent in vivo and in vitro studies suggest that nitric oxide or a nitric-oxide-like substance mediates nonadrenergic, noncholinergic relaxation of trabecular smooth muscle through activation of the cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) pathway. In 60 Sprague-Dawley rats, we investigated the effect of intracavernous administration of different drugs ...

Cyclic guanosine monophosphate signalling pathway in pulmonary arterial hypertension
Vascular Pharmacology, 2013During the last decade, it emerged that cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) is a novel drug target for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). cGMP regulates many cellular functions, ranging from contractility to growth, of relevance to the disease.

Cyclic guanosine-3??5?-monophosphate induced diuresis in rats
Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archives of Pharmacology, 1974In excretion studies in dogs it was found that cyclic guanosine-3′∶5′-monophosphate (cGMP) was eliminated by glomerular filtration only. If there is any permeability of the tubule cells to exogenous cGMP, it must be very low. cGMP (5×10−5 moles) injected into the thoracic aorta of rats induced an increase of the renal electrolyte excretion.
