Experimental investigation of pretensioned bolts under cyclic loading: Damage assessment using acoustic emission

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2019
Understanding the acoustic emission effects on bolts under cyclic loading is of great significance for the support of roadways. The presented research focuses on the acoustic emission characteristics of bolts under cyclic loading.

The effects of drainage on the behaviour of railway track foundation materials during cyclic loading

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents the results of a series of hollow cylinder tests carried out to investigate the role of drainage conditions on the response of railway track foundation materials during cyclic loading. Three sand–clay mixes were tested.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Calculation model for lateral response of piles considering the characteristics of sand convection under asymmetric cyclic loading

open access: yesApplied Ocean Research
Pile foundations supporting wind turbines and offshore platforms are always subjected to asymmetric lateral cyclic loads from wind and waves. To calculate the lateral response of the pile in sand under asymmetric cyclic loading, this paper proposes a p−y

Mechanical coupling for high cyclic loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
One-piece cylindrical coupling with ""necked-down'' regions at each end form flexures allowing small misalignments between actuator and load. Coupling has zero backlash, low mass, close spacing between actuator and load, high stiffness in direction of ...

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Life prediction of materials exposed to monotonic and cyclic loading: A technology survey and bibliography [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Announced survey directs attention toward low cycle fatigue and thermal fatigue experienced at elevated temperatures equivalent to those found in hot end of gas turbine engine.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Effective Stress-Based Numerical Method for Predicting Large-Diameter Monopile Response to Various Lateral Cyclic Loadings

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Extreme marine environmental cyclic loading significantly affects the serviceability of monopiles applied for the foundation of offshore wind turbines (OWTs).

Cyclic Loading and Fabric Evolution in Sand: A Constitutive Investigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
An anisotropic plasticity model is proposed to describe the effect of fabric and fabric evolution on the cyclic behaviour of sand within the framework of anisotropic critical state theory.
