Post-Cyclic Drained Shear Behaviour of Fujian Sand under Various Loading Conditions
In offshore engineering, the sand beneath an embankment may be subjected to traffic loads, resulting in a series of engineering issues. The behaviour of the sand beneath the embankment may change under a long-term traffic load. A series of drained cyclic

Evolution of contact resistance and coupling loss in prototype ITER PF NbTi conductors under transverse cyclic load [PDF]
Cyclic energizing of a magnet coil with Cable in Conduit Conductors (CICC), as for fusion applications, results in an anomalous change of the interstrand contact resistance (R/sub c/) and coupling loss (n/spl tau/) due to the alternating transverse ...

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment and exercise intolerance are common in dialysis patients. Cerebral perfusion and oxygenation play a major role in both cognitive function and exercise execution; HD session per se aggravates cerebral ischemia in this population. This study aimed to compare cerebral oxygenation and perfusion at rest and in mild

Advanced fiber-composite hybrids--A new structural material [PDF]
Introduction of metal foil as part of matrix and fiber composite, or ""sandwich'', improves strength and stiffness for multidirectional loading, improves resistance to cyclic loading, and improves impact and erosion resistance of resultant fiber ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Comparative study on the fatigue behaviour of SCC and VC [PDF]
Continuous cyclic loading on concrete constructions involves a progressive cracking mechanism, leading to significant changes of the material properties during the lifetime of the structure.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.
