Combinatorial targeting of G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 and cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 reveals a mechanistic role for bile acids and leukotrienes in drug‐induced liver injury

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
CHIN117 is a dual cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CYSLTR1) antagonist and G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 (GPBAR1) agonist. In the liver, GPBAR1 and CYSLTR1 are coexpressed by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs), HSCs, circulating monocytes/macrophages, and liver resident macrophages (Kupffer cells).

Direct regulation of Treslin by cyclin-dependent kinase is essential for the onset of DNA replication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Treslin, a TopBP1-interacting protein, is necessary for deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) replication in vertebrates. Association between Treslin and TopBP1 requires cyclin-dependent kinase (Cdk) activity in Xenopus laevis egg extracts.

PTf‐SRiApt Targeting SCAF4‐POLR2A Interaction Suppresses Tumor Growth and Promotes Antitumor Immunity in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A phosphorothioate‐modified aptamer PTf‐SRiApt capable of disrupting “undruggable” transcription factor SCAF4‐POLR2A interaction with high inhibitory activity and biological stability is presented here. Through this inhibition, PTf‐SRiApt successfully arrested cell cycle progression, induced cell death, and elevated immune recruitment in SCAF4‐POLR2A ...

TP53 R249S mutation in hepatic organoids captures the predisposing cancer risk

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The systematic approach in elucidating the gain‐of‐function (GOF) roles of TP53 mutations in early liver carcinogenesis. Unique downstream targets of TP53 L3 mutations were identified from chormatin immunoprecipitation sequencing in HCC cell lines, followed by a series of validation assays to substantiate the exclusive transcriptional regulations ...

Anticancer activity of Elsholtzia winitiana var. dongvanensis Phuong on gastric cancer cells: phytochemical profiling, cell proliferation inhibition, senescence induction, and cell cycle arrest

open access: yesBeni-Suef University Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences
Background Elsholtzia, a genus within the Lamiaceae family, comprises 42 species predominantly distributed across East and Southeast Asia. Elsholtzia winitiana var. dongvanensis Phuong (EWD) is a subspecies of Elsholtzia winitiana endemic to the Dong Van–

Intercalative DNA binding of the marine anticancer drug variolin B [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Variolin B is a rare marine alkaloid that showed promising anti-cancer activity soon after its isolation. It acts as a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor, although the precise mechanism through which it exerts the cytotoxic effects is still unknown.

RPL6 Interacts with HMGCS1 to Stabilize HIF‐1α by Promoting Cholesterol Production in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study found that RPL6 is frequently upregulated in HCC tissues with extrahepatic metastasis. Elevated RPL6 bound to and increased the stability of HMGCS1 mRNA, thereby enhancing intracellular cholesterol levels. Subsequently, increased cholesterol promotes cancer metastasis in HCC by stabilizing HIF‐1α protein.

Neuregulin 1-Beta cytoprotective role in AML 12 mouse hepatocytes exposed to pentachlorophenol. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Neuregulins are a family of growth factor domain proteins that are structurally related to the epidermal growth factor. Accumulating evidence has shown that neuregulins have cyto- and neuroprotective properties in various cell types.

Targeting the cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) 4/6 in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancers

open access: yesBreast Cancer Research, 2016
Despite significant advances in early detection and treatment, breast cancer still remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality for women. Our understanding of the molecular heterogeneity of the disease has significantly expanded over the past decade
