Twist and turn: a revised structural view on the unpaired bubble of class II CPD photolyase in complex with damaged DNA

open access: yesIUCrJ, 2018
Cyclobutane pyrimidine dimer (CPD) photolyases harness the energy of blue light to repair UV-induced DNA CPDs. Upon binding, CPD photolyases cause the photodamage to flip out of the duplex DNA and into the catalytic site of the enzyme.

Some remarks on the use of experimental bond lengths in the maximum overlap method [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
The hybridization in norbornane, ethane, acetylene, cyclo- propane, cyclobutane and cyclopentane has been reexamined by the maximum overlap calculations based on experimental bond lengths.

Antimicrobial Activity of Ultraviolet C Light as a Potential Novel Treatment for Moraxella bovis Infection—An In Vitro Study

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the antimicrobial effect of 275 nm wavelength ultraviolet C (UV‐C) light on M. bovis using an affordable, broadly available modified handheld device and to determine if photoreactivation plays a role in bacterial resistance to UV‐C. Methods UV‐C therapy (UVCT) was evaluated in vitro using triplicates of 3 M.

ASH1L histone methyltransferase regulates the handoff between damage recognition factors in global-genome nucleotide excision repair

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
UV-induced mutagenic cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers on nucleosomal DNA are sensed by the damage recognition factors DDB2 and XPC via an unknown mechanism. Here, the authors show that the histone methyltransferase ASH1L regulates the DDB2 to XPC handoff by

Ultraviolet C (UV‐C) Light Therapy Inhibits Pathogens Associated With Equine Keratomycosis at Different Corneal Depths—An Ex Vivo Study

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess if an inexpensive, commercially available ultraviolet C (UV‐C) light device with a peak emission of 275 nm can inhibit equine keratomycosis‐associated pathogens located at different corneal depths in an ex vivo model. Methods A controlled, randomized experimental design.

1-(3-Mesityl-3-methylcyclobutyl)-2-phenoxyethanone

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
In the title compound, C22H26O2, the cyclobutane ring is puckered, with a dihedral angle of 24.97 (9)° between the two C3 planes. In the crystal, intermolecular non-classical C—H...O interactions between the methylcyclobutyl ...

Electronic Smoking Devices Among University Students: Usage Patterns and Chemical Composition of Inhaled Substances

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 7, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the prevalence of electronic smoking device (ESD) use and its associated behavioural and chemical risks among university students in Bahia, Brazil. A cross‐sectional survey was conducted with 355 students from public and private institutions through an online questionnaire between April and May 2023. Among participants,

The autoignition of cyclopentane and cyclohexane in a shock tube

open access: yes, 2007
Ignition delay times of cyclohexane-oxygen-argon and cyclopentane-oxygen-argon mixtures have been measured in a shock tube, the onset of ignition being detected by OH radical emission.
