Formation of cyclodextrins with cyclodextrin glucosyltransferase stimulated with polarized light [PDF]
AbstractAfter illumination with white, linearly polarized light (WLPL), cyclodextrin glycosyltransferase produced mixture of α‐, β‐, and γ‐cyclodextrins (CD) with higher overall yield than did that enzyme when nonilluminated. The illumination also influenced the ratio of those CD and that effect depended on concentration of enzyme and illumination time.

Sustainable and Scalable Enzymatic Production, Structural Elucidation, And Biological Evaluation of Novel Phlorizin Analogues. [PDF]
New α‐glycosides of chalcones and dihydrochalcones, analogues of naturally occurring phlorizin, have been synthesized using a CGTase‐catalyzed glycosylation that was successfully scaled‐up in a 10‐liter reactor. The α‐glycosides were (i) purified using an original centrifugal partition chromatography technique, (ii) characterized through NMR and LC–MS ...

miRNA‐128 and miRNA‐223 regulate cholesterol‐mediated drug resistance in breast cancer
Abstract Background Breast cancer is the second most common malignancy worldwide and 70% of all breast cancer cases are estrogen receptor‐positive (ER+). Endocrine therapy, Tamoxifen (TAM), is a popular treatment for ER+ breast cancer patients; however, despite its success in reducing breast cancer mortality, cancer drug resistance remains a ...

Synthesis of Resveratrol Glycosides by Plant Glucosyltransferase and Cyclodextrin Glucanotransferase and Their Neuroprotective Activity [PDF]
Resveratrol was converted by glucosyltransferase from Phytolacca americana into its 3- and 4′- O-β-D-glucosides. On the other hand, further glycosylation of resveratrol 4′- O-β-D-glucoside by cyclodextrin glucanotransferase gave the 4′- O-β-maltoside, 4′- O-β-maltotrioside, 4′- O-β-maltotetraoside, and 4′- O-β-maltopentaoside of resveratrol.

Significance Statement Subgroup 2 R2R3 MYBs have been shown to upregulate stilbene synthase expression in grapevine; however, their broader roles in the regulation of secondary metabolism remained unclear. Combining whole genome gene co‐expression networks, cistrome data for MYB13/14/15, and MYB15 overexpression we identified new regulatory targets ...

Safety evaluation of glucosylated steviol glycosides as a food additive in different food categories
Abstract The EFSA Panel on Food Additive and Flavourings (FAF) assessed the safety of glucosylated steviol glycosides proposed for use as a new food additive in different food categories. Glucosylated steviol glycosides consist of a mixture of glucosylated steviol glycosides, containing 1–20 additional glucose units bound to the parent steviol ...

A seed-specific regulator of triterpene saponin biosynthesis in Medicago truncatula [PDF]
Plants produce a vast array of defense compounds to protect themselves from pathogen attack or herbivore predation. Saponins are a specific class of defense compounds comprising bioactive glycosides with a steroidal or triterpenoid aglycone backbone. The
