Development of a Synthetic 3D Platform for Compartmentalized Kidney In Vitro Disease Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A fully synthetic, compartmentalized 3D kidney disease model is introduced. The kidney model combines a PEG‐based hydrogel matrix with anisotropic, enzymatically degradable rod‐shaped microgels to spatially arrange a triple co‐culture of key renal epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblast cells.

The Distribution of Complement Proteins in Soft and Hard Coronas Impacts Macrophage Uptake of Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Protein corona plays a critical role in the biological behavior of nanoparticles. This study investigates the distribution of complement proteins in soft corona and their impact on the macrophage uptake of polymer nanoparticles. It underlines the significance of soft corona investigation for understanding in vivo performance of nanomedicines.

Asymmetric synthesis of functionalized cyclohexanes bearing five stereocenters via a one-pot organocatalytic Michael–Michael–1,2-addition sequence† †Electronic supplementary information (ESI) available. CCDC 990847. For ESI and crystallographic data in CIF or other electronic format see DOI: 10.1039

open access: yesChemical Communications, 2014
A highly stereoselective one-pot organocatalytic procedure involving a Michael–Michael–1,2-addition sequence provides an efficient access to fully substituted cyclohexanes bearing five contiguous stereocenters in good yields and excellent ...

Metal–Organic Framework‐Based Antimicrobial Touch Surfaces to Prevent Cross‐Contamination

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A MOF‐based antimicrobial door handle cover is developed. It completely inhibits the cross‐contamination of Gram‐positive bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterococcus faecalis), Gram‐negative bacterial species (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii), and fungi (Candida albicans). Abstract Infection diseases

Selective C–H bond hydroxylation of cyclohexanes in water by supramolecular control

open access: yes, 2017
A new approach for selective hydroxylation of non-activated cyclohexanes using dioxirane generated in situ in water through supramolecular control has been developed. Using β-CD and γ-CD as the supramolecular hosts, selective hydroxylation of cyclohexane

A Ship‐in‐a‐Bottle Strategy: Crosslinking Amines and Epoxides inside MOF Pores for Enhanced CO2 Capture Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A “ship‐in‐a‐bottle” strategy is used to grow oligomers inside of a MOF by crosslinking alkylamines with epoxides within the pores of Cr‐BDC. When tested in postcombustion carbon capture applications, the composites show excellent performance with high CO2 adsorption capacity, exceptional CO2/N2 selectivity, and enhanced stability over 100 adsorption ...

Alternate Method for the Synthesis of Six-Membered Carbocycles with Five Stereocenters: 1,2,3,4,6-Pentasubstituted-4-hydroxy-cyclohexanes

open access: yes, 2015
A series of novel 1,2,3,4,6-pentasubstituted-4-hydroxy-cyclohexanes (3a–u) were synthesized from the reaction of aromatic ketones with aromatic aldehydes under mild reaction conditions in good yields.

Asymmetric transformations involving 1,2-diarbonyl compounds as pronucleophiles

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceThis article concentrates on the versatile nucleophilic reactivity of 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds in various asymmetric transformations. Although underexploited in comparison to their 1,3-dicarbonyl homologues, the presence of adjacent
