Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Cyclooxygenase Inhibitors Affect Recovery of Ischemic-injured Jejunum [PDF]
he cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme produces prostaglandins. There are 3 isoforms of COX (including COX-1 and COX-2). As prostaglandins are involved in intestinal repair, the objective of this study was to examine the effects of COX inhibitors on healing of ...

Differential effect of cyclooxygenase inhibitors on absorptive hyperemia [PDF]
To test whether the hydrolytic products of digestion could stimulate vasoactive prostaglandin synthesis in the intestine, the muscularis and mucosa of the rat jejunum were suffused with a bicarbonate-buffered Ringer vehicle containing cyclooxygenase ...

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs as potential ecto-nucleotide phosphodiesterase inhibitors
Phosphodiesterases (PDE) are group of enzymes which catalyze the hydrolysis of cAMP and cGMP. Since these cyclic phosphate moieties worked as intracellular second messengers in numerous physiological processes, their inhibition can affect normal ...

This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Antimetastatic activity of a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor [PDF]
Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression is increased in breast cancer and surgery has been shown to increase the growth of metastatic tumours. We investigated the effect of selective COX-2 inhibition on the growth of metastases in either an experimental metastasis model or following excision of a murine primary breast tumour.

Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Repeated and uncontrolled seizures in epilepsy result in brain cell loss and neural inflammation. Current anticonvulsants primarily target ion channels and receptors implicated in seizure activity.
