Cyclopia

open access: yesSaudi Medical Journal, 2003
True cyclopia is a rare anomaly in which the organogenetic development of the 2 separate eyes is suppressed. We report a fetus with an association of cyclopia with other anomalies. The possible mechanism of the histogenesis is discussed, together with a review of the relevant literature.

Newborn baby with single eye, cyclopia, a rare and lethal malformation [PDF]

open access: yesBatna Journal of Medical Sciences
Cyclopia is a rare facial malformation, a severe form of alobar holoprosencephaly. The two orbits fuse together, resulting in a single eye occupying the middle of the forehead.

Prenatal Diagnosis of Alobar Holoprosencephaly, Cyclopia, Proboscis, and Isochromosome 18q in the Second Trimester

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Perinatology Reports, 2011
We would like to present a rare case of alobar holoprosencephaly (HPE) in a fetus diagnosed by routine sonography in the second trimester. Structural sonography demonstrated multiple facial anomalies including absent nasal bone, flat facial profile ...

Mangiferin has an additive effect on the apoptotic properties of hesperidin in Cyclopia sp. tea extracts. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
A variety of biological pro-health activities have been reported for mangiferin and hesperidin, two major phenolic compounds of Honeybush (Cyclopia sp.) tea extracts.

Plumbagin, a natural derivative of 1,4-naphthoquinone, induces cyclopic phenomenon via increased apoptosis and ROS generation in the early stage of zebrafish embryos

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Plumbagin (PL; 5-hydroxy-2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone) is an analogue of juglone (JG) with additional methylation on carbon 2. It has been found in fungi, insects, and plants, especially Malaysian persimmons, and plants containing PL are globally used as ...

Application of quantitative fluorescent polymerase chain reaction analysis for the rapid confirmation of trisomy 13 of maternal origin in a pregnancy with fetal holoprosencephaly, cyclopia, polydactyly, omphalocele and cell culture failure

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2022
Objective: We present the application of quantitative fluorescent polymerase chain reaction (QF-PCR) for the rapid confirmation of trisomy 13 of maternal origin in a pregnancy with fetal holoprosencephaly (HPE), cyclopia, polydactyly, omphalocele and ...
