A new dilignan from Cynara cardunculus
Fitoterapia, 2003A new dilignan, 7,8-trans-7',8'-trans-7",8"-cis-7"',8"'-cis-8,8'-trans-4",4"',7',9,9",9"'-hexahydroxy-3,3',3",3"'-tetramethoxy-4,8":4',8"':5,7":5',7"'-tetraoxy-7,9'-epoxy-8,8'-dilignan-7'-ol, named cynarinine (2), was isolated together with the known tracheloside (1) from the seeds of Cynara cardunculus.

Cynara cardunculus as a Multiuse Crop
2019The main use of Cynara cardunculus L. is food, but there are also alternative uses, of which this chapter gives an overview. All the possible alternative uses of C. cardunculus have emerged only in recent decades, with the exception of the florets as vegetable rennet, which has a very ancient tradition behind it.

CASEINOLYTIC ACTIVITY EXPRESSION IN FLOWERS OF CYNARA CARDUNCULUS L.
Acta Horticulturae, 2007Flowers of wild cardoon [Cynara cardunculus L. subsp. sylvestris (Lamk) Fiori] represent a milk-clotting agent for production of typical cheeses in some countries (Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Italy). Considering that during the production of globe artichoke [Cynara cardunculus L. subsp.

Fructose production by Cynara cardunculus inulin hydrolysis
Acta Horticulturae, 2016Fructose is a ketohexose, known as D-fructose or levulose and is considered the sweetest sugar found in nature. Currently, this sugar is mostly produced through the acid hydrolysis of sucrose, or through the multi-enzymatic hydrolysis of starch. In response to the growing demand for the consumption of natural, healthy and lowcalorie food since the ...

Effect of acetonitrile on Cynara cardunculus L. cardosin A stability
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2006The kinetics of the structural changes affecting cardosin A, a plant aspartic proteinase (AP) from Cynara cardunculus L., in the presence of a mixture of acetonitrile (AN) in water (W) was studied. Incubation of cardosin A with 10% (v/v) AN resulted in a gradual increase in protein helicity, accompanied by changes in the tertiary structure, seen by ...

Fractionation of Cynara cardunculus (Cardoon) Biomass by Dilute-Acid Pretreatment
Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2007Cynara cardunculus L. (cardoon) is a Mediterranean perennial herb offering good potential as substrate for sustainable production of bioethanol. In this work the first approach to the study of dilute-acid pretreatment of cardoon biomass for biological conversion was made. The influence of temperature (160-200 degrees C), acid concentration (0-0.2% [w/w]

[Monodesmosidic saponins in Cynara cardunculus L].
Ceska a Slovenska farmacie : casopis Ceske farmaceuticke spolecnosti a Slovenske farmaceuticke spolecnosti, 2002From an ethanolic extract of the flower buds of Cynara cardunculus L. (Asteraceae), two monodesmosidic saponins, cynarasaponin B and a new cynarasaponin K, were isolated. The isolated compounds were identified by spectroscopic means and by comparison with standards and the literature data.
