Cyphomandra betacea (Cav.) Sendt (tamarillo) is a small solanaceous tree which produces edible high nutritional fruits. Several lines of research have shown the interest of this species to understand particular aspects of in vitro morphogenesis, in particular somatic embryogenesis (SE).
