Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

Transglutaminase 2 expression is increased as a function of malignancy grade and negatively regulates cell growth in meningioma. [PDF]
Most meningiomas are benign, but some clinical-aggressive tumors exhibit brain invasion and cannot be resected without significant complications. To identify molecular markers for these clinically-aggressive meningiomas, we performed microarray analyses ...

This work develops dynamically softening polyacrylamide hydrogels for time‐resolved imaging during continuous mechanical transitions. The study revealed that mechanotransduction is biphasic; YAP/TAZ inactivation is driven by early loss of the nucleocytoskeletal continuum connecting subnuclear adhesions, F‐actin, and the nuclear envelope, coupled with ...

The Enzymatic Breakdown of Pantethine to Pantothenic Acid and Cystamine [PDF]
The enzyme splitting pantethine into pantothenic acid and cystamine has been purified about 3000 times starting from horse kidney. The purification procedure is reported. The enzyme, whose optimal activity lies in the pH range 4.0–5.5, requires the presence of a reduced thiol for the full activity: mercaptoethanol and dithiothreitol give the higher ...

Cystamine and cysteamine as inhibitors of transglutaminase activity in vivo [PDF]
Cystamine is commonly used as a transglutaminase inhibitor. This disulphide undergoes reduction in vivo to the aminothiol compound, cysteamine. Thus, the mechanism by which cystamine inhibits transglutaminase activity in vivo could be due to either cystamine or cysteamine, which depends on the local redox environment.

Electrostatic interactions between anionic arsenite and cationic cysteamine‐functionalized gold nanoparticles induce aggregation, producing distinct colorimetric and spectroscopic responses. This simple sensing strategy enables sensitive and selective arsenic(III) detection in aqueous and solid‐supported formats.
