1987Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the determination of cystathionine γ- Lyase from streptomyces phaeochromogenes. Cystathionine γ-lyase was first purified and crystallized from rat liver, but is also widely distributed among fungi. The microbial enzyme is purified and crystallized from Streptomyces phaeochromogenes (IFO 3105).

The Biochemical journal, 2000Cystathionine gamma-lyase (CGL) is the last enzyme of the trans-sulphuration pathway, which converts methionine into cysteine. Biochemistry and molecular biology international, 1994Rat liver cystathionine gamma-lyase activity increased rapidly with the onset of lactation, reaching a maximum value at week 2 and slowly decreasing thereafter. In non-lactating rats, from which the litters had been removed on the day of birth, the activity of this enzyme increased only minimally.
