Cystathionine γ-lyase from Streptomyces phaeochromoǵenes

1987
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the determination of cystathionine γ- Lyase from streptomyces phaeochromogenes. Cystathionine γ-lyase was first purified and crystallized from rat liver, but is also widely distributed among fungi. The microbial enzyme is purified and crystallized from Streptomyces phaeochromogenes (IFO 3105).

Cystathionine Gamma-Lyase: A Potential Longevity Gene Under Selection?

Journal of Molecular Evolution
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) plays a crucial role in various physiological processes and has been implicated in modulating aging through its impacts on oxidative stress and cellular health. This study investigates the evolutionary dynamics of the cystathionine-β-synthase (CBS), the cystathionine-ƴ-lyase (CSE), and the 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (3 ...

P35 Exacerbation of the septic response in cystathionine-gamma-lyase deficient mice

Nitric Oxide, 2014
Previous studies reported both beneficial and detrimental roles of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in various models of critical illness. The goal of our study was to compare the outcome of septic shock in wild-type mice and in mice deficient in cystathionine-gamma-lyase (CSE).

[Expressions of cystathionine-beta-synthase and cystathionine-gamma-lyase in the corpus cavernosum smooth muscle of castrated rats].

Zhonghua nan ke xue = National journal of andrology, 2014
To study the expressions of cystathionine-beta-synthase (CBS) and cystathionine-gamma-lyase (CSE) in the corpus cavernosum smooth muscle of castrated rats and their roles in erectile dysfunction after castration. We randomly assigned 40 eight-week-old male SD rats to groups A (2-week sham-operation), B (4-week sham-operation), C (2-week castration) and ...

Human cystathionine gamma-lyase: developmental and in vitro expression of two isoforms.

The Biochemical journal, 2000
Cystathionine gamma-lyase (CGL) is the last enzyme of the trans-sulphuration pathway, which converts methionine into cysteine. To study the possible differences in enzymic activity of the two human cystathionine gamma-lyase isoforms characterized earlier, these were separately expressed in human kidney embryonic 293T cells.

Changes in cystathionine gamma-lyase levels in rat liver during lactation.

Biochemistry and molecular biology international, 1994
Rat liver cystathionine gamma-lyase activity increased rapidly with the onset of lactation, reaching a maximum value at week 2 and slowly decreasing thereafter. In non-lactating rats, from which the litters had been removed on the day of birth, the activity of this enzyme increased only minimally.
