In this work, Au nanoparticle-decorated ZnO@graphene core–shell quantum dots (Au-ZnO@graphene QDs) were successfully prepared and firstly used to modify an ITO electrode for the construction of a novel photoelectrochemical biosensor (Au-ZnO@graphene QDs ...

ISOLATION OF CYSTEINE AND METHIONINE [PDF]
Random 'l‘n5 mutagenesis produced 2l cysteine/methionine and 13 methionine au.'otrophic mutants of‘ Sinorliiznbimn me/1'/or/' strain Rmd20l. Linkage of Tn5 to auxotroph indicated that each mutant had a single 'l‘n5 insertion.

Multiple States of Nitrile Hydratase from Rhodococcus equi TG328-2: Structural and Mechanistic Insights from Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and Density Functional Theory Studies [PDF]
Iron-type nitrile hydratases (NHases) contain an Fe(III) ion coordinated in a characteristic “claw setting” by an axial cysteine thiolate, two equatorial peptide nitrogens, the sulfur atoms of equatorial cysteine-sulfenic and cysteine-sulfinic acids, and

Differential in vitro and in vivo effect of barley cysteine and serine protease inhibitors on phytopathogenic microorganisms [PDF]
Protease inhibitors from plants have been involved in defence mechanisms against pests and pathogens. Phytocystatins and trypsin/α-amylase inhibitors are two of the best characterized protease inhibitor families in plants.

Chemical methods for mapping cysteine oxidation.
Cysteine residues in proteins are subject to diverse redox chemistry. Oxidation of cysteine to S-nitrosocysteine, cysteine sulfenic and sulfinic acids, disulfides and persulfides are a few prominent examples of these oxidative post-translational ...

Directed Evolution and Engineering of Gallium-Binding Phage Clones—A Preliminary Study
The phage surface display technology is a useful tool to screen and to extend the spectrum of metal-binding protein structures provided by nature. The directed evolution approach allows identifying specific peptide ligands for metals that are less ...

Multi-objective optimization of methionine+cysteine levels in diets for growing pigs
Background: The addition of synthetic methionine to growing pig diets should consider the requirements of the methionine+cysteine complex, as most cysteine is obtained through dietary methionine.

CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
