Preparation, In Vivo Administration, Dose-Limiting Toxicities, and Antineoplastic Activity of Cytochalasin B

open access: yesTranslational Oncology, 2015
An effective and inexpensive protocol for producing cytochalasins A and B is being disclosed to propose a viable method by which to examine the in vivo antineoplastic activity of these congeners in preclinical tumor-bearing mammalian models. In addition,

Forces and Structures of the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Entry Mechanism. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper discusses physical and structural aspects of the mechanisms herpes simplex virus (HSV) uses for membrane fusion. Calculations show that herpes simplex virus glycoprotein D has such avidity for its receptors that it can hold the virion against ...

Allergenicity, Genotoxicity and Subchronic Toxicity Assessment of IgG Binding Protein LT Produced From Aspergillus oryzae

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gastrointestinal health is one of the fastest growing areas in the food and beverage industry, as its importance to overall health and well‐being is becoming increasingly recognized. Immunoglobulins play a key role in protecting the gastrointestinal tract, and nonbovine sources of immunoglobulins (including camel milk, which has a long history

How promising are endophytic fungi as alternative sources of plant secondary metabolites? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this article the authors discusses the use of endophytic fungi as substitute of plant secondary metabolites. It states that endophytic fungi exist internally in plants and enhance the plants' ability to tolerate abiotic and biotic stresses. Endophytic

Actin remodeling to facilitate membrane fusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Actin and its associated proteins participate in several intracellular trafficking mechanisms. This review assesses recent work that shows how actin participates in the terminal trafficking event of membrane bilayer fusion.

NQO1‐Responsive Prodrug for in Cellulo Release of Cytochalasin B as Cancer Cell‐Targeted Migrastatic

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The design, synthesis, biochemical, and cell biological evaluation of the NQO1‐targeted prodrug BQTML‐CB is reported. BQTML‐CB selectively releases cytochalasin B upon activation by the quinone‐oxidoreductase NQO1 associated with invasiveness of cancer cells, representing a novel approach to improve cancer selectivity and reduce immunosuppressive ...

Cytoplasmic Streaming in Plant Cells Emerges Naturally by Microfilament Self-Organization

open access: yes, 2013
Many cells exhibit large-scale active circulation of their entire fluid contents, a process termed cytoplasmic streaming. This phenomenon is particularly prevalent in plant cells, often presenting strikingly regimented flow patterns.

Rejuvenation of Senescent Cells, In Vitro and In Vivo, by Low‐Frequency Ultrasound

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
Optimized low‐frequency ultrasound rejuvenates induced senescent cells and aged mice. Our results show that LFU reverses 15 aspects of senescent cells including growth and revitalizes aged mice. ABSTRACT The presence of senescent cells causes age‐related pathologies since their removal by genetic or pharmacological means, as well as possibly by ...

Observations on the Effects of Cytochalasin B and Cytochalasin D on ADP- and Chymotrypsin-Treated Platelets

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1984
Cytochalasin B has been reported to inhibit fibrinogen binding and aggregation of rabbit platelets in response to ADP. The present study was designed to ascertain whether cytochalasins B and D inhibit aggregation by interfering with the exposure of fibrinogen receptors or more directly by inhibiting binding to available receptors.
