Infantile Cerebellar‐Retinal Degeneration Associated With Novel ACO2 Variants: Clinical Features and Insights From a Drosophila Model

Our Translational Loop integrates patient genetic data with Drosophila models to study disease mechanisms. We identified ACO2 variants in a patient linked to ICRD and show that our animal model mirrors key aspects of the disease. These insights help pinpoint therapeutic targets, advancing research toward treatments for rare genetic disorders.

Elevated COMMD1 Contributes to Cardiomyocyte Copper Efflux in Chronic Myocardial Ischemia: Insights From Rhesus Monkey

Elevated COMMD1 contributes to copper efflux in cardiomyocytes during chronic ischaemia in rhesus monkey hearts, regulated by XIAP through post‐translational modification. Our findings suggest a positive feedback loop among XIAP, COMMD1 and copper efflux, contributing to ischaemic cardiomyocyte loss.

Enhanced mitochondrial respiration in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from young children with overweight/obesity and insulin resistance

We investigated measures of mitochondrial function in certain types of blood cells and metabolism in 65 children, 5–10 years old. Compared to children of normal weight (n = 20), children with overweight/obesity (n = 28) and especially those with insulin resistance (n = 17), differed in how their cells produced energy.

Evaluating DNA quality in Coleoptera and Lepidoptera: Impact of fixation and preservation in various trapping methods

We examined how various trapping, fixation, and preservation methods affect the DNA quality of Coleoptera and Lepidoptera specimens. We found that propylene glycol and cyanide vapors effectively preserved DNA, whereas brine provided a cost‐efficient alternative.
