δ-Opioid receptor activation attenuates oxidative injury in the ischemic rat brain
Background We have recently shown that δ-opioid receptors (DORs) play an important role in neuroprotection from hypoxic injury via the regulation of extracellular signaling-regulated kinase (ERK) and cytochrome c release.

Perfluorooctanesulfonate Mediates Renal Tubular Cell Apoptosis through PPARgamma Inactivation. [PDF]
Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) are ubiquitously distributed in the environments including stainless pan-coating, raincoat, fire extinguisher, and semiconductor products. The PPAR family has been shown to contribute to the toxic effects of PFCs in thymus,

The cytochrome c peroxidase activity of cytochrome oxidase.
I have found that mammalian cytochrome oxidase catalyzes the peroxidatic oxidation of ferrocytochrome c under strictly anaerobic conditions. An apparent Km value for ferrocytochrome c was 2 microM, and a second order rate constant, estimated as an extrapolated value, was 1.4 X 10(6) M-1 s-1 at pH 7.4 at 25 degrees C.

Crystalline Cytochrome c Peroxidase and Complex ES
Cytochrome c peroxidase, purified from bakers' yeast, has been obtained in crystalline form. Upon the addition of hydroperoxides, crystals of the enzyme were readily converted to those of Complex ES without modification of their crystalline form. As judged from their size, shape, and stability, these crystals of cytochrome c peroxidase and Complex ES ...
