On the Prebiotic Synthesis of Ribonucleotides: Photoanomerisation of Cytosine Nucleosides and Nucleotides Revisited

ChemBioChem, 2007
AbstractRecent work has emphasised the importance of D‐ribose aminooxazoline 1 in the synthesis of cytidine ribonucleosides under potentially prebiotic conditions. Upon treatment with cyanoacetylene, 1 is transformed into α‐D‐cytidine (α‐2), and if an efficient means of anomerising this nucleoside or a derivative thereof were to be found, then the ...

The preparation of carrier-free iodine isotope-substituted cytosine nucleotides

Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1974
Abstract Cytosine nucleotide triphosphates can be iodinated with carrier-free iodine isotopes and separated from the parent compounds yielding products which have a 75 times ( 125 I) or 550 times ( 131 I) higher specific activity than commercially available tritium-labeled nucleotides.

Rapid Detection of Adenine and Cytosine Nucleotides in Short Hetero-Oligodeoxynucleotides

2006 5th IEEE Conference on Sensors, 2006
Electrochemical methods are suitable techniques for study of oligodeoxynucleotides (ODNs) and their components. The combination of new techniques, the elimination voltammetry with linear scan (EVLS) and adsorptive stripping (AdS) and/or adsorptive transfer stripping (AdTS), was used for the rapid and low-cost detection of adenine and cytosine ...

Liquid membrane electrodes for nucleotides based on sapphyrin, cytosine-pendant triamine and neutral cytosine derivative as sensory elements

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 1993
A number of anion-selective lectrodes have been developed by the use of alkyhin compounds, vitamin B,, and metalloporphyrin derivatives, diphosphonium and bis(quaternary ammonium) salts, and macrocyclic polyamines. Of these, the macrocyclic polyamiue electrodes are characteristic in that the host molecule functions as an anion receptor by ...

A spectrophotometric study of the interaction of VO2+ with cytosine in nucleotides

Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry, 1996
The interaction of VO2+ with cytidine-monophosphate, -diphosphate, and -triphosphate has been investigated at different pH values and metal-to-ligand ratios by differential UV-absorption spectroscopy. It is shown that at pH values between 3 and 5 and for metal-to-ligand ratios up to 0.5, the cytosine ring is involved in coordination. On the other hand,

Cytosine–Cytosine Base‐Pair Mismatch and Chirality in Nucleotide Supramolecular Coordination Complexes

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2017
AbstractThe base‐pair sequences are the foundation for the biological processes of DNA or RNA, and base‐pair mismatch is very important to reveal genetic diseases and DNA rearrangements. However, the lack of well‐defined structural information about base‐pair mismatch is obstructing the investigation of this issue.
