Strategies to Design and Optimize Artificial Antigen‐Presenting Cells for T Cell Expansion in Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in engineering artificial antigen‐presenting cells (aAPCs) as alternatives to dendritic cells for T cell expansion. Key design principles inspired by the immunological synapse are discussed, with emphasis on strategies for polyclonal and antigen‐specific T cell expansion.

Modulation of let-7 miRNAs controls the differentiation of effector CD8 T cells

open access: yeseLife, 2017
The differentiation of naive CD8 T cells into effector cytotoxic T lymphocytes upon antigen stimulation is necessary for successful antiviral, and antitumor immune responses.

TLR Agonist Nano Immune Therapy Clears Peritoneal and Systemic Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
Intraperitoneal administration of immunogenic Toll‐like receptor agonist‐modified mesoporous silica nanoparticles leads to rapid internalization by ascites myeloid cells with trafficking to fat‐associated lymphoid clusters. Activation of myeloid cells counters suppressive immune mechanisms associated with peritoneal metastasis, leading to regional and ...

Evaluation of antigen specific recognition and cell mediated cytotoxicity by a modified lysispot assay in a rat colon carcinoma model

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2012
Background Antigen-specific CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes represent potent effector cells of the adaptive immune response against viruses as well as tumours.

Induction of WT1 (Wilms' tumor gene)-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes by WT1 peptide vaccine and the resultant cancer regression.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2004
The Wilms' tumor gene WT1 is overexpressed in leukemias and various types of solid tumors, and the WT1 protein was demonstrated to be an attractive target antigen for immunotherapy against these malignancies.

Immunophenotyping profile of infectious mononucleosis caused by Epstein-Barr virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Infekcijska mononukleoza uzrokovana virusom Epstein-Barr (EBV) u većine imunokompetentnih domaćina je samoograničavajuća infekcija koja se najčešće prenosi kapljicama sline zaražene osobe. U akutnoj fazi EBV zaražava epitelne stanice orofarinksa, a zatim

Bioengineering a Patient‐Derived Vascularized Lung Tumor‐on‐Chip Model to Decipher Immunomodulation by the Endothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Most in vitro cancer models lack cellular diversity, functional complexity, and clinical relevance. This work highlights the generation of an innovative dynamic tetraculture with autologous patient‐derived cells within a vascularized tumor‐on‐chip, as well as the recapitulation of endothelial anergy features induced by the tumor microenvironment ...

An In Situ Curing, Shear‐Responsive Biomaterial Designed for Durable Embolization of Microvasculature

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
NeoCast is a next‐generation, solvent‐free, non‐adhesive liquid embolic designed for indications where deep occlusion is desired (e.g., tumors and chronic subdural hematoma). This novel agent offers ideal embolic properties: injectability, controllability, excellent visibility, and biocompatibility.
