Hoppe-Seyler´s Zeitschrift für physiologische Chemie, 1976Isolated rat hepatocytes preserved for several hours their contents of ATP, CTP, GTP, UTP and UDPG. Leakage of intracellular and membrane-bound enzymes remained in the range observed with the isolated perfused rat liver. D-Galactosamine led to a rapid decrease of the UTP and UDPG contents while ATP and GTP levels remained unaffected.

Effect of d-galactosamine-HCl on the pulmonary surfactant in the rat
Experimental and Molecular Pathology, 1978Abstract Administration of d -galactosamine induced a significant increase in the percentage of serum-free cholesterol and in the phospholipid contents of the pulmonary surfactant in the rat. The maximum change in the surfactant was observed 40 hr after treatment with the drug preceded by the change in serum cholesterol levels.

A new synthesis of D-galactosamine from D-glucosamine
Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 1, 19722-Amino-2-deoxy-D-galactose was prepared from allyl 2-benzamido-3-O-benzyl-2-deoxy-4,6-di-O-methyl-sulphonyl-β-D-glucopyranoside via allyl 2-benzamido-3-O-benzyl-2-deoxy-β-D-galactopyranoside. The latter compound should prove a suitable intermediate for the preparation of various derivatives of 2-amino-2-deoxy-D-galactose.
