Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Different on the abundance of Pampus argenteus in Persian Gulf exceeding in variety comparing to Gulf of Oman

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2017
Silver pomfret fish (Stromateidae) is a family of Perciformes order. One species of this family is Pampus argenteus known as silver pomfret and lives in different parts of the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. Therefore, the genetic relationship between its

Genetic characterization of Atlantic sturgeon stocking material used in Lithuania to restore the Baltic Sea population [PDF]

open access: yesActa Ichthyologica et Piscatoria, 2019
Background. Recent genetic analyses of fish remains, obtained from archaeological sites, revealed that more than 2000 years ago the Baltic Sea was inhabited by sturgeons closely related to the Atlantic sturgeon, Acipenser oxyrinchus Mitchill, 1815.

TERRA and RAD51AP1 at the R&D-loop department of ALT telomeres

open access: yesMolecular Cell, 2022
In this issue of Molecular Cell, Kaminski et al. and Yadav et al. demonstrate that RAD51AP1 and TERRA non-coding RNA positively regulate the alternative mechanism of telomere maintenance by promoting D-loop formation and chromatin-directed mechanisms to suppress transcription-collision events during ALT telomere synthesis.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

D‐Loop Facilitates Hydride Transfer in Transhydrogenase

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2012
Transhydrogenase (TH) is located in the mitochondrial inner membrane and maintains NADPH levels to counteract oxidative stress resulting from oxidative respiration. Enzymes in the electron transport chain work to reduce oxygen to water and pump protons (H+) into the inter‐membranous space.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Possibility of $$T_{c\bar{s}}(2900)$$ T c s ¯ ( 2900 ) as the resonance-like structure induced by threshold effects

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
We investigate the process $$B\rightarrow \bar{D}D_s \pi $$ B → D ¯ D s π via several rescattering processes. It is shown that the triangle singularity (TS) peak around the $$D^*K^*$$ D ∗ K ∗ threshold generated from the $$\chi _{c1}K^* D^*$$ χ c 1 K ∗ D

A bag model calculation of the electroweaks?d? loop

open access: yesZeitschrift fr Physik C Particles and Fields, 1991
We consider the CP-conserving electroweak transitionss→dγ. To include confinement effects below the charm scale, we perform the loop calculations within the bag model. According to the calculation, confinement effects are rather important and give amplitudes three orders of magnitude bigger than that obtained from the free quark loop, which is ∼eG F m ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
