Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Robust D-optimal designs for mixture experiments in Scheffe models

open access: yes, 2003
A mixture experiment is an experiment in which the q-ingredients {xi,i=1,...,q} are nonnegative and subject to the simplex restriction sum_{i=1}^q x_i=1 on the (q-1)-dimensional probability simplex S^{q-1}.

Multiple adulteration detection of olive oils by Raman spectroscopy

open access: yesOil Crop Science
The increasing prevalence of multiple adulteration in olive oil affects product authenticity and market integrity. Therefore, it is necessary to develop advanced methods to detect the multiple adulteration.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Enhancing sulfate resistance of cement-stabilized recycled aggregate with steel slag: Optimized mix design and mechanistic insights

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Cement-stabilized recycled aggregate (CSR) has garnered considerable attention as a sustainable material in pavement construction. However, its performance significantly deteriorates under sulfate attack. This study aims to enhance the sulfate resistance
