Intracerebroventricular administration of the (1→6)-β-d-glucan (lasiodiplodan) in male rats prevents d-penicillamine-induced behavioral alterations and lipoperoxidation in the cortex

open access: yesPharmaceutical Biology, 2017
Context: Lasiodiplodan, an exocellular (1→6)-β-d-glucan of molecular weight >1.4 × 106 Da produced by MMPI strain of Lasiodiplodia theobromae (Pat.) Griffon & Maubl.

Methanobactin rapidly facilitates biliary copper excretion in a Wilson disease rat model visualised by 64Cu PET/MRI

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 2, Page 268-279, January 2026.
Background and Purpose Methanobactins are peptides with high copper affinity and potential to treat Wilson disease. We examined how two methanobactins (ARBM101 and MB‐OB3b) affected copper handling in the LPP Atp7b−/− Wilson disease rat model, compared to penicillamine or saline, by 64Cu positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging ...

Sensing of Copper(II) by Immobilized Ligands: Comparison of Electrochemical and Surface Plasmon Resonance Transduction

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
Two sensors for the detection of the metal ion Cu(II), based on the same sensing layer, are compared. They rely on different transduction methods, i.e., electrochemistry and surface plasmon resonance (SPR).

Myasthenia Gravis Outcomes After Use of Statins and Other Contraindicated Treatments: Results From the French National Insurance Database

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 1, January 2026.
In this real‐world study among 14,459 adults with MG, exposure to any contraindicated treatment was not significantly associated with risk of ICU admission for MG but was associated with significantly higher risk of death. In contrast, statins were associated with a greater risk of ICU admission but a lower risk of death.

Impact of FSH‐Induced Ovarian Stimulation on Oocyte Recovery and In Vitro Embryo Production in the Red Sindhi Cows

open access: yesReproduction in Domestic Animals, Volume 61, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Follicle‐stimulating hormone (FSH) plays an important role in regulating reproductive events, particularly follicular development and oocyte competence acquisition. Some studies using FSH protocols in zebu cattle were performed, but data regarding its application in the Red Sindhi breed are scarce and therefore warranted. In this context, this

Effect of D-penicillamine on Vitamin B6 Activation of Aspartate Aminotransferase in Synaptosomes of the Developing Brain [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 1989
The activity of aspartate aminotransferase a vitamin B6 containing enzyme was measured in the laysed synaptosomes prepared from rat brain, during development. Administration of vitamin B6 increased the enzyme activity throughout development.

Plasma Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Correlates With Brain Metal Burden in Wilson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 12, Issue 12, Page 2433-2445, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Objective Neuroinflammation driven by extracellular copper contributes to neuronal damage in Wilson's disease (WD). This study investigated the relationship between brain metal burden and peripheral neuroinflammation markers in WD. Methods We conducted a cross‐sectional study involving 89 participants, including patients with WD (n = 63 ...

Exploring Nasal Structural‐Microbial Interactions in Multiple Sclerosis‐Associated Olfactory Impairment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 12, Issue 12, Page 2546-2557, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Olfactory dysfunction is frequently observed in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS); however, its underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. To date, no studies have directly examined the nasal mucosal microbiota in MS. This study aimed to explore potential relationships among olfactory function, nasal microbiota composition,
