Immobilization of Clostridium cellulolyticum d‑Psicose 3‑Epimerase on Artificial Oil Bodies

open access: yes, 2016
The rare sugar d-psicose possesses several fundamental biological functions. d-Psicose 3-epimerase from Clostridium cellulolyticum (CC-DPEase) has considerable potential for use in d-psicose production.

Crystal structure of 6-deoxy-α-l-psicofuranose

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2015
The title compound, C6H12O5, was crystallized from an aqueous solution of 6-deoxy-l-psicose (6-deoxy-l-allulose, (3S,4S,5S)-1,3,4,5-tetrahydroxyhexan-2-one), and the molecule was confirmed as α-furanose with a 3T4 (or E4) conformation, which is a ...

Reconstitution of Methionine Cycle With ATP Regeneration for Whole‐Cell Catalysis of Creatine Production in Engineered Escherichia coli

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 5, May 2025.
In this study, we constructed a CR biosynthesis pathway in E. coli by introducing exogenous AGAT and GAMT. We integrated the reconstitution methionine cycle with a polyphosphate kinase‐based ATP regeneration system, achieving a CR titre of 5.27 g/L with a productivity of 0.22 g/L/h.

Assessment of Metabolome Variation in Field‐Grown Lettuce in Context to Its Different Types and Soil Types as Analyzed via GC‐MS Analysis and Using of Chemometric Tools

open access: yeseFood, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2025.
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is one of the most important ready‐to‐eat vegetables widely consumed worldwide owing to its myriad nutritional and health benefits. A total of 111 peaks were identified via gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry. ABSTRACT Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is one of the most important ready‐to‐eat vegetables widely consumed worldwide

Enzymatic Conversion of D-Psicose From D-Glucose by the Co-Expression of D-Psicose 3-Epimerase and Glucose Isomerase

open access: yes, 2020
Escherichia coli was genetically modified for the production of D-psicose. A modified plasmid containing an extra copy of gene expression elements, including Ribosomal Binding Site (RBS), T7 promoter, multiple restriction enzyme cloning site, was ...

Signalling and regulation of plant development by carbon/nitrogen balance

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 177, Issue 2, March/April 2025.
Abstract The two most abundant macronutrients in plant cells are carbon (C) and nitrogen (N). Coordination of their cellular metabolism is a fundamental factor in guaranteeing the optimal growth and development of plants. N availability and assimilation profoundly affect plant gene expression and modulate root and stem architecture, thus affecting ...

From Sweetness to Mouthfeel: A Review on Overcoming Sensory Barriers in Sugar‐Free Beverages

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Background Over recent decades, considerable research has focused on understanding sweet taste mechanisms and developing new noncarbohydrate sweeteners due to rising noncommunicable diseases. New regulations limiting high sugar levels in food and beverages have driven innovation towards reduced‐sugar and sugar‐free products, often using noncarbohydrate

Update of the list of qualified presumption of safety (QPS) recommended microbiological agents intentionally added to food or feed as notified to EFSA 21: Suitability of taxonomic units notified to EFSA until September 2024

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract The qualified presumption of safety (QPS) process was developed to provide a safety assessment approach for microorganisms intended for use in food or feed chains. In the period covered by this Statement, no new information was found that would change the status of previously recommended QPS taxonomic units (TUs).
