The mechanism of action of dantrolene sodium.
The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 1977Dantrolene sodium is thought to affect some step in the excitation-contraction coupling process. Using a point voltage clamp to determine mechanical thresholds of individual fibers of frog, rat and goat skeletal muscle preparations, we found that dantrolene both raises (moves to more positive potentials) the rheobasic potential and increases the ...

Pharmacokinetics of dantrolene sodium in horses
Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1987The pharmacokinetics of dantrolene sodium were investigated in horses following both intravenous (2 mg/kg) and intragastric (4 mg/kg) administration. Two ponies also received dantrolene sodium intravenously (2 mg/kg) in a pilot study to obtain preliminary kinetic data and to determine urinary and biliary excretion of the intact drug.
