Dried blood spots in toxicology : from the cradle to the grave? [PDF]
About a century after its first described application by Ivar Bang, the potential of sampling via dried blood spots (DBS) as an alternative for classical venous blood sampling is increasingly recognized.

Parabiosis between db/db and ob/ob or db/+ Mice [PDF]
Genetically obese C57B1/6J-m db/db mice were parabiosed with either lean male db/+ or obese female ob/ob mice. Male db/db mice had lower serum leptin than females, and this was reflected in the amount of protein that crossed the parabiotic union into their partners.

Neurosurgery for psychopaths? The problems of empathy and neurodiversity [PDF]
I argue that deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a bad approach for incarcerated psychopaths for two reasons. First, given what we know about psychopathy, empathy, and DBS, it is unlikely to function as an effective treatment for the moral problems that ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Entropy Generation Analysis for a CNT Suspension Nanofluid in Plumb Ducts with Peristalsis
The purpose of the current investigation was to discuss the entropy generation analysis for a carbon nanotube (CNT) suspension nanofluid in a plumb duct with peristalsis. The entropy generation number due to heat transfer and fluid friction is formulated.
