The helicase HAGE prevents interferon-a-induced PML expression in ABCB5+ malignant melanoma-initiating cells by promoting the expression of SOCS1

open access: yes, 2014
The tumour suppressor PML (promyelocytic leukaemia protein) regulates several cellular pathways involving cell growth, apoptosis, differentiation and senescence.

Pt‐TiO2 mesoporous nanosystem co‐delivering phlorezin enables synergistic sonodynamic‐chemoimmunotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma via directly targeting DDX5 and metabolic reprogramming modulation

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), ranking as the third leading cause of cancer‐related mortality globally, continues to pose significant therapeutic challenges. Here, we developed an innovative nanosystem, Phl@PT, based on Pt‐TiO2 nanoparticles for the co‐delivery of Phlorezin, presenting a novel approach for HCC treatment through sonodynamic ...

The ATPase Cycle Mechanism of the DEAD-box rRNA Helicase, DbpA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Biology, 2008
DEAD-box proteins are ATPase enzymes that destabilize and unwind duplex RNA. Quantitative knowledge of the ATPase cycle parameters is critical for developing models of helicase activity. However, limited information regarding the rate and equilibrium constants defining the ATPase cycle of RNA helicases is available, including the distribution of ...

In vivo mapping of the functional regions of the DEAD-box helicase Vasa

open access: yesBiology Open, 2015
The maternally expressed Drosophila melanogaster DEAD-box helicase Vasa (Vas) is necessary for many cellular and developmental processes, including specification of primordial germ cells (pole cells), posterior patterning of the embryo, piRNA-mediated ...

Mitochondria‐endoplasmic reticulum organelle glue as maturation promoter for origination/dimensional dual‐cross cardiomyocytes

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Mitochondria‐endoplasmic reticulum contact sites (MERCS) are areas where the mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum closely interact. In this study, we utilize synthetic organelle glues to artificially engineer MERCS for regulating cardiomyocyte development, through which the immature and chemo‐plasticity issues of undifferentiated cells are addressed.

The role of the DEAD‐box RNA helicase DDX3 in mRNA metabolism

open access: yesWIREs RNA, 2013
AbstractDDX3 belongs to the DEAD‐box proteins, a large family of ATP‐dependent RNA helicases that participate in all aspects of RNA metabolism. Human DDX3 is a component of several messenger ribonucleoproteins that are found in the spliceosome, the export and the translation initiation machineries but also in different cytoplasmic mRNA granules.

RNA‐centric world of retroviruses: unravelling the molecular strategies of genomic RNA packaging

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Retroviruses constitute a unique group of RNA viruses that have profoundly influenced both evolutionary trajectories and biomedical research. Their ability to reverse transcribe and integrate into host genomes has shaped genomic architecture across species and contributed to our understanding of oncogenes, gene regulation, and RNA biology ...

Plasmodium falciparum DDX31 is DNA helicase localized in nucleolus

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Malaria is a major infectious disease and is responsible for millions of infections every year. As drug resistance strains of Plasmodium species are emerging, there is an urgent need to understand the parasite biology and identify new drug targets ...

Dimerization of the DEAD-Box Cyanobacterial RNA Helicase Redox, CrhR

open access: yes, 2012
The DEAD-box cyanobacterial RNA helicase redox, or CrhR, in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 is capable of unwinding dsRNA and in annealing ssRNA in a bidirectional ATP-dependent manner. This is a feature shared by only four other DEAD-box RNA helicases.

Proteomic signatures of equine dental tooth tissues in ageing and disease

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Ageing and dental disease in horses lead to structural and functional deterioration of dental tissues, yet their molecular signatures remain poorly characterised. Understanding how these processes alter the protein composition of enamel, dentin, cementum and pulp is essential for improving equine oral health and identifying ...
