Receptors for hematopoietic regulatory cytokines overview of structure and function

open access: yes, 1995
The production of blood cells is regulated by the action of external factors, cytokines, that can be released by many cell types. In the first place, a population of multipotent stem cells, mostly in the resting Go phase of the cell cycle, but with self ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Evolution of olfactory receptors in birds

open access: yes, 2023
Olfaction is an evolutionary ancient sensation, and is the perception and interpretation of chemical stimuli from surrounding air or water. Olfaction is an essential sensory modality for nearly all animals, and is used to define territories, to identify ...

Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...

Expression of inhibitory receptors on CD4+ and CD8+ T cells from healthy Colombian donors

open access: yesUniversitas Scientiarum, 2012
T cell activation involves positive cellular signals that promote effector functions and negative signals that contribute to the regulationof these responses.

Characterisation of CD8neg and CD8+ human natural killer cell subsets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
NK cells are CD3neg CD56+ lymphocytes that constitute about 10-15% of peripheral blood lymphocytes. They have an innate ability to recognise and kill virus infected cells and tumour cells.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Glycans on death receptors as sweet markers and signaling checkpoints

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell Death
Apoptosis is a form of programmed cell death that eliminates excessive and damaged cells. It can be conducted by two ways: the extrinsic and the intrinsic (mitochondrial) pathways.
