The Silent Communication of Penghayat Kepercayaan: Identity Negotiation and Co-cultural Strategies in a Muslim-Majority Community

open access: yesIjtimā'iyya
This research highlights the paradox of pluralism in Indonesia, where Penghayat Kepercayaan (indigenous faith practitioners) frequently employ defensive communication strategies despite having constitutional guarantees.

Animating hatreds: research encounters, organisational secrets, emotional truths

open access: yes, 2009
About the book: Feminist research is informed by a history of breaking silences, of demanding that women's voices be heard, recorded and included in wider intellectual genealogies and histories. This has led to an emphasis on voice and speaking out in

Magnetic and Structural Response Tuned by Coexisting Mn Concentration‐Dependent Phases in MnBi2Te4 Thin Film Grown on GaAs(001) by Molecular Beam Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study explores structural and magnetic properties of one of the most recent topological quantum materials (MnBi2Te4). The Mn‐poor structure leads to stacking faults (quintuple layer ‐ QL of Bi2Te3 formation instead of a septuple layer ‐ SL of MnBi2Te4), resulting in a coexistence between weak antiferromagnetism and ferromagnetism.

Silencing COI1 in Rice Increases Susceptibility to Chewing Insects and Impairs Inducible Defense

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The jasmonic acid (JA) pathway plays a key role in plant defense responses against herbivorous insects. CORONATINE INSENSITIVE1 (COI1) is an F-box protein essential for all jasmonate responses. However, the precise defense function of COI1 in monocotyledonous plants, especially in rice (Oryza sativa L.) is largely unknown.

Silence as a Source of Information in Qualitative Research

open access: yesInternational Journal of Qualitative Methods
This paper explores the possibilities of silence as a methodologically useful tool. Employing a feminist perspective to qualitative research as its starting point and its relationship with ‘voice’ this paper explores the potential of capturing meaning ...

Microsphere Autolithography—A Scalable Approach for Arbitrary Patterning of Dielectric Spheres

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MicroSphere Autolithography (µSAL) enables scalable fabrication of patchy particles with customizable surface motifs. Focusing light through dielectric microspheres creates well defined, tunable patches via a conformal poly(dopamine) photoresist. Nearly arbitrary surface patterns can be achieved, with the resolution set by the index contrast between ...

Analysis of the Electrochemical Stability of Sulfide Solid Electrolyte Dry Films for Improved Dry‐Processed Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An adapted processing for solvent‐free argyrodite solid electrolyte films based on insights into degradation mechanisms of the widely used binder polytetrafluoroethylene is presented. By adapting the dry film processing, long‐term cycling in Si||NMC pouch cells is demonstrated over more than 1000 cycles with a capacity retention of more than 80%, and ...

Adaptive 4D‐Printed Vascular Stents With Low‐Temperature‐Activated and Intelligent Deployment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microarchitected coronary artery stents were fabricated using a polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based shape memory polymer (SMP) composite via projection micro‐stereolithography (PµSL) 4D printing. By incorporating diethyl phthalate (DEP) as a plasticizer, the thermal transition temperature (Ttran) was modulated to about 37°C, enabling rapid and autonomous ...
