Targeted protein editing technique in living mammalian cells by peptide-fused PNGase

open access: yeshLife
Various precise gene editing techniques at the DNA/RNA level, driven by clustered regularly interspaced short palindrome repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9 (Cas9) technology, have gained significant prominence. Yet, research on targeted protein

Crystallographic and physicochemical studies on anion-binding and deglycosylation of human lactoferrin : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Philosophy in Chemistry at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Lactoferrin, a monomeric 80 kDa glycoprotein, is a major component of human milk and is found in many other exocrine secretions as well as in the neutrophilic granules of white blood cells.

Deglycosylation systematically improves N-glycoprotein identification in liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry proteomics for analysis of cell wall stress responses in Saccharomyces cerevisiae lacking Alg3p [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Post-translational modification of proteins with glycosylation is of key importance in many biological systems in eukaryotes, influencing fundamental biological processes and regulating protein function. Changes in glycosylation are therefore of interest

Crystal structure of deglycosylated human IgG4-Fc

open access: yesMolecular Immunology, 2014
The Fc region of IgG antibodies, important for effector functions such as antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity, antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis and complement activation, contains an oligosaccharide moiety covalently attached to each C(H)2 domain.

B4GALNT4‐Mediated Glycosylation of PDK1 Activates the PI3K‐AKT Signaling Pathway to Promote Prostate Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 23, 23 April 2026.
This study identifies B4GALNT4 as a key driver of prostate cancer (PCa). It shows that B4GALNT4 glycosylates PDK1 protein at the N531 site, which stabilizes the PDK1 and constitutively activates the PI3K‐AKT pathway. This mechanism promotes tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. The findings establish the B4GALNT4‐PDK1 glycosylation axis as

Proof of the Mysterious Efficacy of Ginseng: Basic and Clinical Trials: Metabolic Activation of Ginsenoside: Deglycosylation by Intestinal Bacteria and Esterification With Fatty Acid

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2004
Orally ingested ginsenoside passes through the stomach and small intestine without decomposition by either gastric juice or liver enzymes into the large intestine, where ginsenoside is deglycosylated by colonic bacteria followed by transit to the ...

A Case Study and Review of the Literature on IgA Nephropathy in Crohn's Disease

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most frequently reported glomerular disease associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), particularly Crohn's disease (CD), although pediatric cases remain rare. We report IgAN in a 16‐year‐old male with CD following intestinal surgery and during long‐term infliximab therapy, with renal impairment occurring ...

The role of epithelial cell adhesion molecule N-glycosylation on apoptosis in breast cancer cells

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
Glycosylation of cell surface proteins plays an important role in the regulation of apoptosis. It has been demonstrated that knockdown of epithelial cell adhesion molecule promoted apoptosis, inhibited cell proliferation, and caused cell-cycle arrest. In
