Evaluation of feeds from tropical origin for in vitro methane production potential and rumen fermentation in vitro

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2015
Enteric methane arising due to fermentation of feeds in the rumen contributes substantially to the greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, like evaluation of chemical composition and nutritive values of feeds, methane production potential of each feed should be ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Ruminal degradability of neutral detergent insoluble protein of selected protein sources

open access: yes, 2001
Ruminal degradability of neutral detergent insoluble protein (NDICP) for different protein sources was measured using two fistulated cows. Effective degradability of NDICP was highest (P < 0.05) for distillers’ grains, intermediate (P < 0.05) for ...

RUMINAL FERMENTATION AND TANNINS BIOACTIVITY OF SOME BROWSES USING A SEMI-AUTOMATED GAS PRODUCTION TECHNIQUE

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2009
The nutritive value, tannins bioactivity and methane production of some tropical plants e.g. Acacia (Acacia saligna), Leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala), Atriplex (Atriplex caseneace), Eucalyptus (Eucalytus globules), and Alfalafa (Medicago sativa) hay ...

Effects of cellulase and xylanase enzymes mixed with increasing doses of Salix babylonica extract on in vitro rumen gas production kinetics of a mixture of corn silage with concentrate

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2015
An in vitro gas production (GP) technique was used to investigate the effects of combining different doses of Salix babylonica extract (SB) with exogenous fibrolytic enzymes (EZ) based on xylanase (X) and cellulase (C), or their mixture (XC; 1:1 v/v) on ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Effect of a bacterial inoculum and additive on dry matter in situ degradability of sugarcane silage

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2015
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of adding a bacterial inoculum and a handmade additive to sugarcane silage (SCS) on the in situ digestibility of dry matter (DM).

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
