Stochastic Modeling of Expression Kinetics Identifies Messenger Half-Lives and Reveals Sequential Waves of Co-ordinated Transcription and Decay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The transcriptome in a cell is finely regulated by a large number of molecular mechanisms able to control the balance between mRNA production and degradation. Recent experimental findings have evidenced that fine and specific regulation of degradation is

Styrene photocatalytic degradation reaction kinetics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2011
The aqueous styrene photocatalytic degradation reaction was evaluated using TiO2 P-25 (Degussa) as a catalyst. These experiments were accomplished in a batch slurry reactor with temperature control and a UV lamp. The effects of the initial styrene concentration, the catalyst concentration, the hydrogen peroxide addition and the initial pH of the ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Genetic and Biochemical Characterization of 2-Chloro-5-Nitrophenol Degradation in a Newly Isolated Bacterium, Cupriavidus sp. Strain CNP-8

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Compound 2-chloro-5-nitrophenol (2C5NP) is a typical chlorinated nitroaromatic pollutant. To date, the bacteria with the ability to degrade 2C5NP are rare, and the molecular mechanism of 2C5NP degradation remains unknown.

Photopolymerized thermosensitive poly(HPMAlactate)-PEG-based hydrogels : effect of network design on mechanical properties, degradation, and release behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Photopolymerized thermosensitive A-B-A triblock copolymer hydrogels composed of poly(N-(2-hydroxypropyl)-methacrylamide lactate) A-blocks, partly derivatizal with methacrylate groups to different extents (10, 20, and 30%) and hydrophilic poly(ethylene ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Degradation transformations in topologically disordered solids: 4. Features of exponential kinetics

open access: yesТехнологія та конструювання в електронній апаратурі, 2005
The manifestations of exponential degradation kinetics in topologically disordered materials are analyzed. Degradation transformations are determined by a single prevailing activation energy value, regardless of the structural dispersity of the system ...

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...
