Surfactant films in lyotropic lamellar (and related) phases: Fluctuations and interactions [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Colloid and Interface Science 247C (2017) 363-373, 2017
The analogy between soap films thinning under border capillary suction and lamellar stacks of surfactant bilayers dehydrated by osmotic stress is explored, in particular in the highly dehydrated limit where the soap film becomes a Newton black film. The nature of short-range repulsive interactions between surfactant-covered interfaces and acting across

Urine specific gravity as a diagnostic tool for dehydration in children

open access: yesPaediatrica Indonesiana, 2010
Background Using clinical judgment to diagnose dehydration can be highly subjective. To diagnose dehydration, it would be ideal to have an accurate, inexpensive, objective and easy-to-perform diagnostic tool.

Effect of annealing temperature on morphology, structure and photocatalytic behavior of nanotubed H2Ti2O4(OH)2 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Catalysis A: Chemical Volume 217, Issues 1-2, 3 August 2004, Pages 203-210, 2010
Nanotubed titanic acid (H2Ti2O4(OH)2) was prepared from nanotubed sodium titanate (Na2Ti2O4(OH)2) by an ion exchange reaction in a pH=1 HCl solution. The effect of annealing temperature on the morphology, structure and photocatalytic behavior of nanotubed H2Ti2O4(OH)2 was studied by means of TEM, XRD, DTG, DSC, BET and ESR.

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Monitoring My Dehydration: A Non-Invasive Dehydration Alert System Using Electrodermal Activity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Staying hydrated and drinking fluids is extremely crucial to stay healthy and maintaining even basic bodily functions. Studies have shown that dehydration leads to loss of productivity, cognitive impairment and mood in both men and women. However, there are no such an existing tool that can monitor dehydration continuously and provide alert to users ...

On The Dehydration of Borax

open access: yesCommunications, Faculty Of Science, University of Ankara Series B Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 1976

Crosstalk between gut microbiota and tumor: tumors could cause gut dysbiosis and metabolic imbalance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this research, we analyzed the relationship between gut microbiota and tumor. We discovered that both subcutaneous and metastatic tumors would alter the composition and metabolic function of gut microbiota. Meanwhile, fecal microbiota transplantation also indicated the anti‐tumor role of the gut microbiota, revealing the crosstalk between tumor and ...
